Very good features- better than anything I tried yet. It works very well with Comodo Antivirus- no problems yet.

The level of protection when you install any other software is very good-you'll get pop-up messages when most dll's and .exe's and other code are installed, it's good to know exactly what is being installed- other people may whine that it's an annoying pop-up feature but they just need to cut down on coffee and coke! Be patient and within an extra half a minute your programs will install and you'll be happier knowing what dlls and exes have been installed...

Web Security Guard is another excellent feature which places a tick next to all known safe websites as certified via a Google database, which is best to use when you are initially asked when installing Spyware Terminator.

I haven't noticed much updating during weekends though, which worries me a bit- I notice Firefox crashes a bit from time to time but I cannot be sure if Comodo Antivirus or Spyware Terminator causes it, ot if it's just hackers throwing me off the Web because I'm such a crafty rogue online, and constantly snooping around for the latest news and gossip, leaving opinions and encouraging people to fight the New World Order...

this is a good program for many users who do not want shell out money on anti spyware. Try it you will forget everything, few things you need to be careful is about the intiial setup as there will be few pop ups checking to make sure you are completely protected, any person can check what it is by clicking on view details. Overall i have tried different programs but this one superseeds everything, though there will be always something lacking i feel this to be really good. As long as the user is cautious while installing any freeware or shareware, this product will help you to remain safe. the antivirus program built in is just fine, I am sure people will like it.

i have no problems with this program but it does conflict with antivir ashame to two of the best conflict if they didnt your pc would be well armed

this is just far too annoying. spyware terminator is as bad as the uac on vista if not worse even with the HIPS being activated. ive never seen even a firewall with so many pop-ups when trying to install anything.

basically if you install stuff on your pc, you either have to disable spyware terminator completely or keep hitting yes 100s of times per installation.

its just not worth it. i recommend spyware doctor starter edition if youre running vista or xp sp2. for those of you using xp sp3 may have problems with spyware doctor starter and for you guys i recommend spycatcher express. which has better detection than spyware terminator and less uac than spyware terminator.

Although every dot I put into excellent in my rate, this anti-spyware still in a very good overall rating for me. Why? because of there are many 'unknown' in ST database. I'm using the latest version but they still don't know avp.exe (Kaspersky AV) and SASENUM.SYS (Superantispyware system file) is a valid files!

Other than that, they did very good job in detecting other startup and services that my other security software missed e.g SASENUM.SYS valid file itself! I have KAV7, Comodo firewall, Winpatrol Plus, SAS free, Linkscanner lite and now ST, starting perfectly together with my PC without any incompatibility.

For now, I'm only using ST as my primary anti-spyware program with real-time protection with advanced profile, WITHOUT:-
1) Integrated database with Clam AV because I somehow still scare of compatibility issue with KAV7
2) No HIPS because Comodo and Winpatrol Plus already done that and is enough for me,
3) No Web Security Guard because i'm using FF2 full time with IETab, which is of course safer than IE7, integrated with SA, Linkscanner lite and some security add-on so it is perfect for me :). Also, because I doesn't want to have any problem with KAV7's Web Scanner.

FYEI, I'm using Win XP P4 3GHz 1.5GB.
No resource hog & no slow down speed of my system after installing ST 2. Fast full scanner for 2 80GB hard drive. Full of features including extra utilities e.g delete undeleteable file and analyze file. Excellent nice looking interface. So easy to use because you can choose a profile between beginner, advanced, and expert or no protection at all! Every button have good & detail explanation if you direct your mouse pointer to it and of course it's totally freeware!. Thanks Crawler Inc. for this great freeware!

it is a very nice programme and the latest version is even better. In my personal opinion the crawler toolbar is not really useful so you have an option to install it without the toolbar. It is quite a good protection for your pc.

Spyware terminator is easy to setup and use.
It caught the same junk that it's competitor found.

this is in my mind is the most complete free security solution out there. being able to integrate clamwin into the program for added protection as well as offering web security guard ((its better than site advisor)) is great. my only true complaint lies in the HIPS. its average at best and everything needs confirmation regardless if safe or not.

crawler makes 2 great free products everyone should own in spyware terminator and web security guard ((im still dumbfounded by it not being rated clean, i mean they say its cause of the crawler toolbar yet if the whole thing were called web security guard, it would b listed as clean))

Excellent program. It keeps getting better and better. The scanning engine is fast, the database is complete, and the GUI is acceptable.

I appreciate Crawler removing the "Web Security Guard" from the ST package. While ST is a great program for everyone, I think WSG is for novices, and really loads IE down with useless features.

As for those that rate ST very low, it must be for personal reasons.

Crawler and its associated companies are clean now.
This is an EXCELLENT program, provided that it is FREE, with frequent updates, a lot of features etc.
I only have found several errors and missings in the Spanish language translation of its interface and help screens.

Good: Excellent AS program with efficient realtime scanner. Fast system scan.

Bad: Occasionally fails to load the realtime driver, which is a definite annoyance. Quirky Auto Update. Although it is turned on, it does not work automatically. Sometimes the manual update does not find updates that you know are available. The configuration is large and confusing. It ill find but not remove some tough spywares such as "Drive Cleaner". But then, neither does Windows Vista's One Care product.

I recommend you don't fiddle with the silly Web Security Guard, new in this release. It's almost as bad as much of the rubbish from which the AS protects you. It's always popping up making distractions.

Ive never heard of this product. I searched google and got to the homepage.

2) you cant download spython alone anymore. you only can use System Mechanic.


I think you must have gotten an infection of some sort, because Spyware Terminator does not come with any adware or spyware, which has been confirmed by Softpedia and their 100% clean award.

RogueRemover is a great program, however, its entire definition for rogue products it removes comes straight from the rogue program list at spywarewarrior.com (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm)

That is perfectly fine EXCEPT in this case with Spyware Terminator.
If you look at the spywarewarrior page, you will see "Spyware Terminator", and "SpywareTerminator".
"SpywareTerminator" is delisted and has the note at the bottom of the page saying there was no problems in their initial testing but was listed for a probation period of 3 months due to its previous ties with adware companies. It has since been removed from the list.
"Spyware Terminator" is still on the list and is the program RogueRemover refers to.

Its really unfortunate that there is a fake program with a name similar to a legitimate program.
Fortunately, SpywareTerminator isnt the only program with this problem. If someone doesnt think AdAware or SpyBot hasnt had the same problem, then they are ignorant. Just, SpywareTerminator gets more pub since it is actually UPDATED (unlike AdAware and SpyBot).

Pros- ST is a free program which offers a viable Realtime Shield against malware. That alone makes it a very nice product.

Cons- I have recently tested ST's HIPS component using the Spycar and Advanced Process termination tests and the results were that ST's HIPS performed poorly. These tests essentially try to terminate a program (ST's HIPS failed 7 of the 9) and try to change the autostart and IE Configuration (ST failed 14 of the 16 tests). These tests were done in several different formats: HIPS enabled/Realtime Shield disabled, HIPS disabled/Realtime Shield enabled, HIPS enabled/realtime Shield enabled. In all tests it did not matter whether HIPS were enabled or not as the same results occurred. The Realtime Shield component was the only defense against these mock malware tests.

Based on that I would suggest that ST still be used as the Realtime Shield is a very good layer of protection against malware. But useres should consider concurrently using another free HIPS program. I would suggest either Dynamic Security Agent, System Safety Monitor or Prosecurity. The combination of one of these free HIPS programs alongside the Realtime Shield of ST will provide much more security than the HIPS of ST.

Also, a few other things should be considered. ST still has a fairly high rate of false postive spyware found in scans. What has worked best for me is to use a multi-program defense in which I scan with other programs such as SuperAntiSpyware, AVG's anti-spyware and Ad-Aware. In this approach, I essentially only use ST for its Realtime Shield protection.

The ClamAV could be used as a #2 on-demand scanner for virus problems but it is not recommended, at its present state, as a full time scanner. There are free anti-virus programs that do a much better job. Those include AVG, Antivir and AOL's Active Virus Shield. Besides, ClamAV seems to be a bit heavy in resource usage to be ran all the time.

There still is the affiliation with Crawler. So users should maintain a heightened sense of skepticism with tis product. And Crawler still promotes it spyware products ascan be seen on crawler.com. And if you have any doubts about their continued affiliation just check out ther "contact" addresses. As of last look the two were still conducting business out of the same offices.

But that alone should not deter someone from using this product. The Realtime Shield is rare for a free product and I wholly recommend using that feature. Just don't put all your eggs in one basket thinking the spyware detection, ClamAV and HIPS are good enough for today's internet world. There are better free products that can be used for those tasks.

Pros: I've been using is for only few days but very impressed & satisfied with it. Realtime Shield, with HIPS & Clam Antivirus (included in update) provides effective ways to protect against spyware & adware.

I d/l some stuff and at the moment of access it detected the spyware. It's not a "scan spyware after infection" method, but rather "prevent spyware infection" method. It's great because it prevents spyware from getting into your computer at first place.

It gives me peace of mind; since other programs only scan manually, often after the spyware infection, I consider this as the first line of defense.

The user inferface and navigation is very simple and effective. You won't get confused using this product. Make sure you enable the HIPS (Host Intrustion Prevention System), along with clamAV; because those two are the detection component is real time.

Cons: It also moniters program, which can be annoying if the settings were set to expert setting. It practically asks permission for all the file accssed/used during installation. But this can be prevented by setting it to beginner or advanced setting. You will need to tweak the setting for your comfort level.

It would be nice to have more detailed description or manual about this program.

As of version 1.5, Spyware Terminator includes ClamAV Antivirus. This is the free open source antivirus.

Spyware Terminator integrates ClamAV in three ways:
1) it integrates is into full on-demand scans
2) it integrates it into the real-time protection
3) it integrates it into the program updates

It is really amazing. This software is going places.

Side note: like any antivirus, anymore than one antivirus on your machine will cause performance issues. The ClamAV in Spyware Terminator is no exception to this generality.

The alert windows have been redesigned and resemble Microsoft Antispyware Beta 1 more now.
The real time scanner options have been COMPLETELY redesigned...its quite amazing. Very amazing.

Ah I love how the main window tells you what the new definitions the program most recently downloaded has added to the library of detected items.

Another freeware spyware scanner to add to your arsenal, giving you more reason to avoid paying for programs such as SpySweeper and Spyware Doctor.

It has a good interface, however the only gripe I have is that it looks exactly like Microsoft Antispyware with Ad-Aware scanning engine infused in it. Its unfortunate that developers today aren't exactly original...

It has a good scanning engine.
It comes with active scanners.
It has a small memory footprint.

Its an overall excellent program. I recommend you download it for your spyware removing needs IN CONJUNCTION with Microsoft Antispyware.
