I downloaded the Seven Transformation Pack, and tried many times to get it to install properly. Every time, I didn't get the new start menu, explorer, and taskbar. Basically, any 3rd party app didn't work. The install was buggy, many features just kind of activated late, or even after I uninstalled. I just found it easier to do most of the transformation using the 3rd party apps and just doing it yourself. You have A LOT more control and options with it. As well as if there's a problem you can attend it directly. It just could have been developed much better.
Also, the uninstall does not revert all changees. The explorer and icons do not change back, aside from a select few. There's a lot to be fixed. |

i installed 4.0, the skin or interface, and speed, are nice; but other than this i encounter serious operational bugs:
first, it seems not having taken me to 64 bit, my computer property still informs me a total ram of 3GB even though i have 6 in actual place
next, there is often shortcut or ribbon unresponsiveness in ms office 2007 (all applications), those previously always-on-top error messages now do not appear unless i minimize all other applications
moreover, alert/error popups of some other applications (e.g. utility) now do not give min/max/close buttons that all exist when they ran under xp home or pro, such that they will not proceed unless i press alt-f4
any patch for my above problems? otherwise i need thinking to uninstall it
thx! |

I have installed this, and to be fair it is actually not that bad,a few things i would say,if you turn on all the extra 3rd party apps you do need at least 2gig of ram and a pretty hefty Graffix card for them to run as they should,You do get the option not to install these 3rd party addons,so think what your pc can do before you intall.RE: The uninstalation,it is true the program does leave files behind, mostly the 3rd party app folders, you can delete these after,so thats not such a big deal, but the program does alter and replace some of the windows .dll files and you wont get back the originals even after you uninstall,so make a restore point before, and even then its no garuntee that the original .dlls will be replaced,as system restore doesnt make backups of .dll files, the only real way to get back what was changed is to format and reinstall. If you willing to keep the look it gives you and your pc is good enough to run it then this is a good piece of kit, otherwise stay clear. |

BEWARE THIS PROGRAM!! It hosed my system even after uninstalling. I read ALL documentation before, and followed it to the letter. Now I\\\'m off to reinstall windows, and you will be too. Its a HUGE resource hog, and this program just isnt worth it, free or not.
And BTW, the description says it looks like aero, BS, it looks nothing like aero! I have vista ultimate on another machine, and looks totally different. All they did was strip the icons, and cursors. There is soooo much more to aero than that. After you get it installed you find out you STILL need a program like windowblins to make it really look like aero.
I am waiting on a program like vystal, which is free, and can use windowblind skins AND mssthemes.
Good Luck! |

downloaded VTP 9 very quicky after release, it took like 35 minutes (way too long for 30mb!!)
but i thought, ohhh well its worth the wait,
i started the instalation, and it all installed but right at the end of the instalation the program crashed. i had to restart, and the boot screen didnt change, but everything else did!
Once loaded i was very disappointed...
the programs caused my computer to lag massively and one after the other the programs started to crash. i stopped all the programs, and just wanted to try Visplore, again i was very disappointed. the minimum requirement for visplore was 512mb of ram, thats wat i have, i ran visplore with nothing running other than Xp itself, and it was awful, it took ages to actually open (much longer than Windows Explorer) and everytime i hover over anything like the exit button etc. and the cursor will freeze for a second or so, i tried simply browsing stuff, very very slow. Dont get me wrong there were some very good parts, and for the future ViSplore could be amazing but it was either way too early to release it or you need to up the minimum requirements.
For anyone with a computer of 512mb of ram or lower, DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!beacause all its done to me is lagged my pc soo much its barely usable. |

6 was great, but DON'T get 7. When I first tried to install it gave me a message about a MS update and recommended I uninstall it. Well, since I slipstreamed it into my copy of Windows I can't do that, so I decided to go ahead anyway. It then opened a browser window with a tutorial on how to fix the problem, which was changing and recompiling a dll. When that was done (I followed the instructions exactly and checked twice to make sure I had it right), it was finally ready to install. Since they knew about the problem beforehand, why didn't they fix it themselves? End users shouldn't have to recompile system files to use your software, for Christ's sake.
After the installation finished it prompted me to reboot, naturally. Then I got a BSoD instead of a welcome screen. Yes, the BSoD still exists on XP. I hit reset to reboot. Same thing. I tried to start up in safe mode but it couldn't even get that far, giving me the same BSoD right after the boot screen.
Obviously, I'm going to have to reinstall Windows. Thank God for Knoppix! I'm posting this on Knoppix while recovering my files. I recommend Vistamizer; I wound up with a blank black boot screen after installing it, but no other damage and it otherwise worked very well. If the blank boot screen bothers you, just make a backup copy of your ntoskernel.exe and replace the new one with your original copy. If you do't know what I'm talking about, google "change Windows boot screen" for a guide (most boot screens that you download include a tutorial). |

Yes, downloading was hard while trying to use Firefox, IExplorer and even DAP; but installing IDM solved the problem and it only took a few minutes.
Yes, if you don't read the instructions, you will have all sorts of problems. It is stated several times during installation: "please close everything", "Please be carefull", "Please back up", "please, please, please". If you have any problems with VTP6 is because your PC has problems previous to installation or because you did not follow instructions. Even cnet.com warns you, "be carefull". I closed everything that was running (remember the taskbar icons, those are programs running or standing by). Told my AV to go to sleep for a few minutes and proceeded to installed right after file was downloaded. The installation went so smooth it was scarry. Restarted and voila...
The biggest factor behind the decision to try it was the fact that cnet.com reccomends it. If cnet.com says it's OK, believe me, it's OK.
Great looks and interfaces. Just a couple of minor glitches but nothing of concecuences: #1-The little boxes of help that appear over different buttons or icons when you put the cursor over them don't show. #2 The minimize, maximize and close buttons of every window overlaps with the same row of buttons that my nvidia card creates as well. Other than that the VTP6 packs a 10 on my list.
It's worth it.
Keep up the good work |
