So why would anybody need to harvest all of the names and email addresses from an NNTP news server? I've never needed to.

The only answer I can come up with is:

It is unfortunate that Softpedia allowed this to be hosted on their site.

In other words, this is spamware.

It collects email addresses from the 'Net. "It provides benefits to your business and dramatically open up your new customer base!"

There is no legal way to "Fax Market" in the US. If you don't have a prior business relationship with me, you can't fax me. Period.

So let me get this straight. This is basically a spammer tool? If somebody doesn't already have my email address, I don't want to hear about their "opportunity".

Don't get me wrong- I use Sam Spade and I like the author, but...
This software hasn't been updated since 1999, and Steve isn't really supporting it any more. He said the code was built for Windows 95.

If you like it, use it by all means... just don't expect any updates or support.

The English-language version still contains some German. Can't tell what one of the toggles is for.
PRO: The conversion accurately reproduces the PDF text layout in RTF
CON: This is accomplished by putting each line of text in a separate text box in Word. (Everything is in object boxes.) In Wordpad, you get editable text in the correct font, but you lose all the page formatting.

Summary: This software is OK if you want to correct a typo in a PDF, but won't handle real editing if it is important to maintain the original page layout of the PDF.
