This article contains a bit of confusion as to what exactly Logmein consists of. I will try to settle this confusion.
Logmein is the umbrella term for several programs, including Logmein Free, Logmein Pro, Logmein Rescue, Logmein Backup, and Logmein IT Reach.
Logmein Free, as its name implies, is a completely free remote access program accessible through the website at www.logmein.com. Due to its web-based nature, it has become favored by many people who run into problems with other remote access programs that are dependent on static IPs, installing programs, etc.
Logmein Pro is the professional version of Logmein Free, which requires a monthly fee and includes file transfer and remote printing, among other features
Logmein Rescue is designed specifically as a "help desk" piece of software, to help and assist techinical support companies. Techs can remotely access and repair systems from their desk, while accessing systems from anywhere in the world.
Logmein Backup, as the name implies, is a remote backup program. You can back up files from your system to another system anywhere in the world, and synchronize it to backup at any time that fits into your schedule.
Logmein IT reach, designed for the IT community, is a system/network monitoring tool, jam-packed with functionality designed specifically for network admins. It also includes remote access software.
All of these programs have similar, web-based interfaces that are very simple, clean and easy to use. As someone who has used all of these programs at different times, I highly reccomend them and cannot speak highly enough of their value. |
