AVG-free 7.5 is a very good program, easy to install, and completely nag-free. It feels like a very professional product. Contrary to drkoopz's opinion, I know many non-technical users who use AVG without any problem. It auto-updates its definitions every day, which is fine, but hard to schedule exactly.
My biggest complaint -- With the free version, you don't have much control over what files are subject to the on-access scanning. You can either choose "all" or a list of "infectable" file extensions, which includes files with no extension. You can't exclude directories. For me, this is bad because AVG ends up quarantining my Thunderbird inbox and junk folder, which are stored in files with no extension. |
