all its missing to me is an option to encrypt entire folders not just individual files. still well worth 5 stars, i just like having everything =P

this is 5 by default seeing as nothing matches it in terms of overall package however 3.0.1 offers even more problems

- the browser still does work on live scoring sites ala sportsline
- now website pages come up blank from time to time & need refreshed
- it crashes more then 3.0 did

sorry site advisor is a joke now. sites go back and forth between red and green all the time because they listen too much what some say and not what others say. hell ive seen softpedia listed as both red and yellow by site advisor because some were giving it red because they didnt read the descriptions before downloading

WOT is the only one that has siteadvisor's google search results security ratings, the only one that lists 4 levels of security, and the only one that prevents someone going into a red site without confirming it 1st. site advisor does neither.

and contrary to what most believe since siteadvisor was bought out by mcafee it now goes by 3 things 1) what a select few say 2) what has happened in the past (like 10 yrs ago) 3) or because of mcafee itself (they had superantispyware.com as red once and superantispyware is one of the few on spywarrrior's safe list.)

the fact download.com is green is what shows their testing means nothing. download.com has more viruses, spyware and adware then the rest combined and doesnt warn people in the descriptions at all. but because some give download.com a green rating due to its their favorite site, it gets a green rating from siteadvisor.

it says trial not freeware. dont give it a bad rating because u assumed it was free.

it becomes free after the trial ends then you get the stripped down version with less features. dont dis a product cause you want a top grade firewall for free.

you want a top notch free firewall, go with comodo. although now with comodo, its adware. plus they have a pay version as well now.

norton is the finest example of trash. freebies like antivir personal edition free and avast home edition have better detection, and better protection.

only people who have tried nothing else live by norton. that is unless you like paying for a product that does worse then the freebies. i should know, i used to use norton. when i got a bad virus, i scanned using norton and it found nothing. soon after norton got destroy by the virus and then surfing became near impossible. as a last resort i used a trial of mcafee and the avg free edition and guess what? they found and removed what norton couldnt.

Now im on with antivir personal edition free. It detects just about everything and warns about potential malware more then norton ever did. norton is junk that people pay for. its like paying for polluted water with a name on it people feel they can trust.

im giving this a 4 instead of 5 because while it has great detection rate its loaded with false positives as well

for instance. it labeled revo unstaller as a rogue installer, it labeled realtek ac' 97 as a trojan, it labelled almost everything that was just in the c drive as a trojan.

far better then uTorrent is now. uTorrent is now monitored software by BitTorrent. i like the some of the new add-ons for vuze such as their auto updater which allows you to automatically install the newer betas and ono which can help increase Vuze's speed. plus you have upload shaper, and the network monitor all must have new add-ons.

shouldnt the new uTorrent builds (now made by BitTorrent) as well as BitTorrent clients be deemed as adware for monitoring their users activity? isnt that a form of spyware? i mean their spying on users and waiting to report anything that isnt legal to download. its against the law what their doing and is why they refuse to release how they catch people.

90% of the time on reviews its avg users who claim something is a virus, no one else and AVG has the lowest detection rate of even the other 2 main free av's AntiVir and Avast.

so why is it the AVG ones always find something the others dont? its cause most of what they find arent actually viruses its something unknown. most good anti virus software flags unknown viruses as unknown or generic.

not avg, all things not in its virus database(which is smaller then AntiVir and Avast) is a virus to them. if they had a good virus database as well as a good whitelist they wouldnt have these probs.

lesson in all this is if u use an inferior product u will get burned because it will detect a lot more that arent viruses and fewer that are actual viruses.

and now on top of it, its now adware. always good to use the lowest detection (highest false positives) freeware product when it has an adware bonus.

1) 2.0 has no anti-malware/anti-virus protection
2) firefox 2.0 will stop having updates soon, so you'll be using an insecure browser
3) awesome bar can be changed to standard in about:config
4) firefox 2.0 is not faster than 3.0. i remember the same people saying it about 1.5 being faster than 2.0 then months later say 2.0 is the faster browser out there.
5) any tweaks can be done through about:config so stop bitching.

all in all this browser had 8 million downloads in one day and over 12 million so far. they have bugs to work out, they always do. we all know it will get even better per update so bitching now is ptless.

i sick of cheap people giving a product a low rating solely cause it doesnt work with an older OS. if your using anything lower then xp its solely cause your cheap and thus have no business rating products.

this is just far too annoying. spyware terminator is as bad as the uac on vista if not worse even with the HIPS being activated. ive never seen even a firewall with so many pop-ups when trying to install anything.

basically if you install stuff on your pc, you either have to disable spyware terminator completely or keep hitting yes 100s of times per installation.

its just not worth it. i recommend spyware doctor starter edition if youre running vista or xp sp2. for those of you using xp sp3 may have problems with spyware doctor starter and for you guys i recommend spycatcher express. which has better detection than spyware terminator and less uac than spyware terminator.

i find it better than msn, yahoo, and aim messengers. i also like it better than miranda but digsby is the best instant messenger offering everything others have and more. pidgin is a distant 2nd to digsby.

the truth is ie is only most used browser because it comes pre-installed on windows. most people either use what comes on their pc ie6 or just upgrade to the latest. they dont think nor want to try another product.

in countries where ie wasnt pre-installed, firefox has the majority of the users. thus ie is only used more because its the one that comes on the computer. had it been a choice, ie wouldnt be the 1 used the most.

this will make it hard for firefox to ever take majority control overall. its hard enough to get someone to download something new, to get them to download and try it is a hard task. if opera wins and microsoft is forced to stop having ie preinstalled, firefox would win, until then its gonna be a very hard climb to the top for us firefox users.

near pointless

1) no online back-up so if you reformat you lose everything

2) if you have admin rights why need multi profiles? would you really allow someone else use your account with admin rights?

the only way this is useful is either u have everyone share one login account or if u decide to fully uninstall everything per update. without online back-up its meaningless.

simplest backup solution of all for non online storage

1) update only dont reinstall firefox
2) give each user their own login account with only u having admin rights

the only extensions who deserve mention in back up are gbs, and foxmarks because they have online back-up so when u reformat its still there.

i myself actually have my own catagory for dif cleaners.

ccleaner = basic file cleaner
easy cleaner = basic registry cleaner

wise disk cleaner = secure file cleaner
glary utilites = simple system utilities

and i use all those in that order and i finish it off with jkdefrag GUI in both disk and registry defrag modes. then reboot.

guys this is 100% identical to orbit downloader's grab . thus if u used that feature on orbit downloader, u know how it works.

do not download. i entered a password like it said, then the moment it asked for it i typed in the EXACT same password and it said invalid. i know it was the same cause i watched the keys when typing it in.

if you install it there is a good chance you will be screwed. you cant uninstall even unless u enter the password it u just entered that it says is invalid. luckily unlocker got rid of it. so if u wish to try it, make sure u have unlocker ready in case it fails otherwise ur screwed.

1st off 7-zip is a joke. its more complex then it should be. trying right clicking on a compressed file with it to extract it to a place of your choice is a pain specially considering zipgenius allows that plus allowing creation of a folder before placing in that. 7-zip doesnt do that

IZArc is 2nd best but again it doesnt have the flexibility of zipgenius, it also is harder to right click on an item to transfer it to a place as well as creating a folder.

but to even recommend 7-zip over zipgenius means you clearly have not used both because there is nothing 7-zip can do that zipgenius cant but there are things zipgenius can do that 7-zip cant.

also for more proof of bobad's ignorance, one must only go to software reviews of pcworld and check out compression software in which not only is zipgenius the ONLY FREEWARE product on the list but is 2ND BEST OVERALL.

that antivir pop up does none of that stuff. displaying during an update is dif then displaying while a product is running.

dude just cause u dont like the pop-up doesnt make it adware and its not adware defined by softpedia.

1) it doesnt try to install anything else

2) it doesnt run while the product runs only after an update. so you could see it as a notification your product updated while u were away

3) it doesnt display third party advertisements. it only notifies you that there is more protection available, its just like a pop-up telling you that you need to update your product. plus you can disable it in windows registry then it doesnt run at all.

its a bother at times but just cause someone doesnt like something or doesnt want something doesnt make it adware, spyware or a virus. i do believe softpedia should mention the pop-up but i dont believe it should be changed from freeware to adware.
