I have used them all - or almost - and I confess the first time I tried Thunderbird I did not like it. However after close inspection of features and after using it, allways comparing with others, I have to admit this is a great email client for one - like myself - that do have several mail accounts on different servers. I only use it on an IMAP configuration and it works like a charm as I can not only keep the messages I want on the servers instead of having them on my machine, delete the ones I do not need and even receive a message on a server and forward it from a different one, transfer messages from one server to another, on the fly, etc. I use the portable edition and have it installed on a USB pen, is fast enough and very reliable. The management of messages is top notch, as is the management of the address book, either in groups or by individuals. As a free program, it must be considered the best of them all. I have used Opera mail client prior to switch to TB and I feel that is the only contender TB do have. I prefer however TB. |

I use Opera for 5 years , but I have also IE7 and Firefox installed on my PC, as I am a webdeveloper and I use the other two just for testing my pages in all the 3 most used browsers.I was always overwhelmed by the sheer speed of Opera, its ease of use, the straight forward and useful features. And if you think 9.26 is fast, just try the 9,5Beta because it's even faster.
The incorporated Mail client is one of the best I know, very fast and sincronizing my IMAP folders and downloading messages much faster than other dedicated Mail clients, such as Thunderbird, KomaMail, Reach-a Mail, etc. Newsfeeds are also availabe and the degree of customization is simply excelent and very easy to control
I know Opera is the fastes of them all ,has the most logical safety features that you can encounter in a web browser, a truly secuere and safe browser.
Memory wise, the new version has a smallest foot print than previous versions but bear in mind that also IE and Firefox are huge ram eaters.
I would not say only that Opera is the fastes browser on earth, I would say also that it is the Best Browser on earth |

As a donator, I have version 2008-60317 not public beta installed, with the new GUI. Well, if I have to balance ease of use, low system resources when minimized to the system tray, great features, tabbed file browsing, good customization, speed and value - even donating - Freecommander is the Explorer to have. Very intuitive, favorite folders, favorite tools, links for external apps, syncronizing, move, compare, a lot of features - the really needed ones - which makes this a great application. I also had Accelman ( which I used prior to install Freecommander ) - Accelman is a great Explorer BTW - with more features than FC, but at the end of the day, I do not needed them all and the GUI of it can become very cluttered. And the fact is that I found myself using FC 100% of the time. Great software. |

I am a former Izarc user and after format my HDD, I decided to give 7Zip a try - I have done so some two years ago but kept Izarc.
Well today and having nothing against Izarc, I found that I do not need the extra file types Izarc does offer, but I found that in terms of speed, compression ratio ( interesting, Izarc acomplishes the same ration on 7z format in maximal mode, as 7zip acomplishes that in normal mode.)
Also, I find the interface much more intuitive and logical in 7Zip and it is, besides an excellent compression machine, a good explorer.
The only glitch is that could have a better appearance - but who cares when it works so well - and to support - or have plugin's - for compressing other file types, as cab. , etc.
Nice piece of software |

Since day one I am an happy SB user. First I started with the free version but as soon as the SE version was launched, I upgraded it.Tried many BK apps, some of them considered top ones( ie NovaBackup and Retrospect, much more expensives) but SB still remains for me,the best one. It can lack the ability to make a CD boot recovery disk (for that I use Image for Windows with excellent results)but with so many features it does the job the way I want it. Full, incremental, differential backups, syncronization, verification, hashing comparison, 3 compression algorithms with 9 levels each,or no compression at all, safe copy, FTP support, a battery of features that once we read the documentation,we will find the right method for our backups, with the right preferences for each backup. This is the kind of app, that the serious user that do not want to loose its valuable work, should have. Very well done and written. I am just astonished with the review of Simon Smith, as at the beginning of my SyncBack experience, some years ago, I've got a great support when I needed it. Congrats to 2 Bright Sparks |
