Quick File Renamer

As your files collections get bigger and bigger, so does an overwhelming need to keep things in order. This is true especially for large music collections, endless photo albums, Vatican-sized libraries of PDF books and even more “important stuff”, like your company’s documents.

Organizing them in folders is all fine and dandy, but finding what you need even with a simple search can prove tedious, if you can’t remember a file’s name. An efficient way to bypass this is by using a file renaming tool like Quick File Renamer.

What Quick File Renamer does is something called a “batch rename”. As you may have already guessed, the process consists of renaming more files at once. You can add files to the user-friendly interface by simply dragging and dropping them or you can add whole folders. After you do this, it’s only a matter of choosing the right presets.

But first, you have to test the renaming process. This will happen automatically for any files you add, if you have already selected a preset, but the automatic testing function will be disabled if you add too many files (you can disable “Turn off automatic testing if I add to many files” from the Preferences window).

Next, remember that the program doesn’t replace any files, but rather copies files and renames them. If you don’t want to keep them in the original folder, select or create another destination for your new files.

You can use Quick File Renamer to batch rename music files using metadata or to rename photos using EXIF data (the date the picture was taken, the camera model, image resolution etc). You can add prefixes and suffixes to the file names, add numbers, replace only parts of names or change them entirely, add tags to multimedia files and even change extensions.
