The week is about to end, so I'm here to review a new game. In the past week we didn't have so many good games, but still, there was something...
Coming from the SpinTop Games laboratories, Mystery P.I.: The Lottery Ticket is a "solve-the-case-game". The story revolves around a granny who lost her winning lottery ticket. When this happens, she comes to you and hires you. In order to have a good reputation and why not, get the reward for the ticket, you have to find it in 12 hours.
If you do this, Grandma Rose will pay you $20 million dollars. Still, there is one piece of bad news: you can't retire on game money.
Moving on, the search for the ticket begins. You'll end up in town and you'll search everywhere. You'll start with a library where you'll have to find some objects. This is the main game play: find the object in the cluttered screen. You'll think this is easy, well, trust me... it is not. You'll have so many distractions, but the objects are really well hid.
At the left side of the screen you'll have the list with the objects you have to find. In every puzzle you'll have to find a key. When the count of 20 keys is complete, you'll unlock a bonus game mode.
What's tricky about all this? Well, sometimes in the list, you'll have written in cap locks words like: "FOUR" or "FUN" or so on. These words are somewhere written on the screen so search in depth for them. As for the numbers... that's trickier because you will never know if it's a word or a figure (that by the way, can be hidden in the cracks of the stones on the road).
For this kind of situations use the HINT button. It will help you a lot. The bad news is that you can't use it continuously. Once you click it and find the object, you'll have to wait for a few seconds (like 30 seconds) until it loads again.
But don't think this is hard. Take it like this. At the beginning of the game, you'll have to find 10 to 20 objects on the screen. As you approach the end, you'll have to locate over 80 items. This already sounds pretty annoying, but it's worth the time, especially that the game will keep you hooked.
Another trick that the game uses are items that you'll find in the list marked like this: "5 apples", "3 birds", "4 candles" etc. If you think that now you have to search for 5 items that are the same, you're right. You'll have to find 3 birds in the picture, or 2 candles and so on, whatever the game requires you to do.
Many of the people that like this kind of games usually look for these items by searching for their colors. In this game everything changes and that's because some of the scenes take place underwater and that's a whole new perspective by looking at the picture.
Moving on... After finding enough items from more than one scene, you'll have to solve a mind game. The clue you search will be hidden under a puzzle. To solve that puzzle you'll have to match images that look the same or are similar, but never identical.
The game has 20 levels so you'll battle for 20 clues. When you have all the clues, you'll find the ticket.
But of course there are cons too: such as taking the player too much on the effort to "fool" the gamer. You'll probably have difficulties to click on thin objects like needles and pins or spears etc. And of course by clicking the wrong object points in minus will result.
But, the big picture is, this game will make it in the first rows as a find-the-clue game. With a strong story line and an addictive game-play it has succeeded.
