About the reviewing process
Softpedia software reviews are completely original works, written by our team of experienced editors.
All software products are thoroughly tested, following a series of characteristics and parameters, starting from the installation of
the product and to the help system.
Finally, a range of "1-out-of-5-stars" ratings is assigned by the editor who reviewed the product:
- User Interface: How well organized and intuitive is the products user interface.
- Features: How useful and well implemented is the product's feature set.
- Ease of use: A measure of how easy to use is the software product for both novice and experienced users
- Price/Value: How cost-effective is the product. Does its price justify the features it offers?
- Overall rating: The general feel of the product. Not necessarily an average of the other four ratings.
Editor's Review Award "Badge"
The "overall rating" also generates an award-like "badge", displayed in the lower part of the review. You can see an example on the right.
This award may be used by the product's developer both on online (websites, newsletters, ad banners) and printed materials (manuals, ad flyers, software boxes).
How to request a review
If you are a software developer
If you are a software developer and want that Softpedia editors review your product, please follow the procedure below:
- Send an email to
 : Make sure to include your company information (name, website, brief history) and product information (name, purpose(s), category, pricing). A link for downloading the product should be included. Alternatively, you may attach the setup file itself to the email if the filesize is reasonable. All information you provide will be used to better represent your company and product in the review.
- Optional: include registration key: For shareware products, including a registration key for our editors may speed up the review process, and will ensure all features of your product are verified in more detail. The key you provide will be used for this sole purpose only and will not be given to any third-parties.
- During the review process, you will be contacted if our editors have any additional questions. You will also be contacted when the review has been published.
If you are a software user
If you are a regular software user and want that Softpedia editors review your favourite product, please follow the procedure below:
- Send an email to : Make sure to include some information about the product (name, purpose(s), category, download link).
- You will be contacted by our editors when the review has been published.
