The capturing palette is located right near the capturing window and, unfortunately, cannot be dragged at any place on the screen. Sometimes this is a bad thing because it would have been nice to be able to move it any place on the screen without having to bear it in one place all the time.

The Works

Sequence is very simple to use. All you have to do is to drag the capturing window in any place on your screen, choose what you want to capture and you are halfway there. All you need to do now is choose the type of media you want to capture, and adjust its options according to your needs. The options vary for the type of media that you wish to capture.

For example, if you want to capture still images, you will only have to choose the style of the capturing window, and its size. For more complex features, like video capturing, you can choose the number of frames desired, the audio quality, and the overall features that make video capturing great. After this, you can save your project, edit it and upload it to the web if you want to.

From the Finder bar, you can access all the important features that Sequence makes available to you. You can select the capturing mode, the media type, and the part of the screen that we want to capture. Also, the size of the screen capture tool size can be changed this way.

Furthermore, you can customize the destination of the capture as well. You can change it at any time. If needed, you can always return to it at any time for editing, or if not, you can leave it the way it was captured, if the chosen quality is a good one. Formats, size and borders can be chosen from this panel easily.

A cool thing about Sequence is that it allows you to capture webcams too. This feature is quite useful for people that like to record their loved ones while talking on the web. Also, video and audio changes can be made, varying according to the type of media recorded. 

Sequence's preferences panel is pretty simple, and allows to change only the most important things. For example, it allows you to choose keyboard shortcut in order to activate or deactivate Sequence easily.Moreover , you can choose if you want the cursor to be captured or not, while you are working on the screen.

A circle can be displayed while following the mouse, that can come in handy to some users who want to get immediate attention to the place that is currently being recorded. Depending on the type of media recorded, you can also disable sound effects, if required. Here you can also customize some internet sharing options that allow you to choose if Sequence can immediately upload the recordings.

Some more general options can be changed in the last panel. These are the JPEG quality, the transparency of the panels. In addition, you can choose the video and audio bitrate, framerate and output resolution. Sequence supports various resolutions, so you can change it according to you needs.

The Good

Sequence is very easy to use. All you have to do is select the part of the screen that you want to capture and you are almost done. Spend a minute to customize Sequence, and you will never have to do this again.

You can also upload the recordings to the web instantly, so it is a nice tool for enthusiasts. Another great thing is the quality of the audio and video that is recorded. Also, Sequence is not a great resource consumer, so you can use it in the background without feeling its presence.

The Bad

Some people may consider that 29$ is a little too much for a screen capturing tool. It is indeed a pretty high price, but some of the features really push it here.
