  • Keep track of your time by project and task.
  • (4 more, see all...)

We live in a society that can give you all except one thing, time. This is the most valuable resource nowadays and it can be a problem if you are not careful how you manage it. Things are even worse when you work in a business, and have to report how much time you spend on a specific project.

In order to solve this kind of problems, developers came with a solution. They developed various time tracking software that help you see how much time is spent on what activity, and allows you to manage your life and your work much easier.

Task Timer is no difference. Although centered on the business class, the program can also be used at home, to see how much time is spent on household activities. You can also use it to manage projects, monitor activities and see how much time your kids spend in front of the computer. The usage for this kind of software is limited only by your number of tasks. You can use it for any type of activity you want.

The Looks

The interface is pretty common, with nothing out of the ordinary. But it helps you do your job, and that is all that matters. The main window can be used for only one project at a time, but you can access the project editor which allows you to quickly change the project you are currently working on. This is very useful if you have lots of projects and often switch between them.

From the main interface, you can also access the events editor that allows you to manage and view the development and deployment of your tasks.

The Works

Task Timer lets you quickly create an unlimited number of project/task combinations. You start with a simple one, insert your own terms, and then see how much time is spent on it. After that you can start another one, and link it to the one that you already have. Starting a project is pretty easy.

You can begin with a sample, and then customize it the way you want, or simply with a blank project. You can start the timer at any time, and see how much time is spent on what activity. The project editor is one of the most important features. It allows you to create as many projects as you want, and manage them with ease. This is very important since you can easily see which project is used and when.

You can also duplicate tasks, setup a task server and generate charts, reports, all based on your project. Task Timer's ability to view events for a particular day, month, or even year is very helpful when tracking the history of various issues or projects. The reporting feature is easy to use and, with its filters, it is very customizable.

The event editor is another important part of the software. You can add unlimited tasks and then manage them with ease. Events can be added for any week, day or month, and after that, you can join the ones that have something in common, split projects and make event groups, depending on the event orientation.

In order to keep the working experience as good as possible, Task Timer also allows you to make event duplicates so that you can create dozens of events based on a original, and change only what you think is necessary.

You can also synchronize Task Timer to a database server. This option is very useful because while keeping the timing process as best as possible, it can also inform you on project changes.

There are some utilities here that are worth mentioning. For example, there's the bulk event deletion tool. With this you can delete dozens, even hundreds of projects at the same time. All you have to do is enter a begin and end date, and Task Timer will delete the projects contained in that period of time.

You can also make a backup of a project, in case something goes wrong and you need some information about it. Another nice utility is the language localizations, which allows you to change the program language to the one of your choosing, And believe me, there are dozens of languages waiting for you to experiment with them.

The Good

Task Timer is very useful for time tracking projects, household activities and pretty much anything. It has an easy-to-use interface, lots of customization and you'll quickly learn all of its insides. A nice thing is that you can generate reports based on them, you can now organize your work correctly, based on the time really spent on a project.

The Bad

24.95 $ for a time tracker? Sounds like a bit too much for me. It may not be much if you use it in production, but for the home user, it's surely a lot of money.

The Truth

If you use task timers at work or at home, this is definitely one you should try. You can time home activities, money making projects, and see the amount of time spent on basically anything. It’s low on resources, easy to use, and it can be used in a wide variety of places. Take it for a spin, and see for yourself how good Task Timer really is.
