Does your computer seem clean? Did you clean your monitor, case, and keyboard? That's good for you, but I have some bad news! Even if your computer looks clean and shiny, the truth inside it may be completely different. Why?

In time, your Windows Registry becomes fragmented and filled with unused entries that should have been deleted by uninstalled programs (obviously, many programs add their entries to the registry, but "forget" to remove them when uninstalled) and a lot of other problems keep appearing.

The result is a computer with a cluttered hard drive and operating system that work slower than normal and may cause even greater problems. Of course that every problem has its solution, and this is what we are going to talk about next.

The target of this article is a cleaning and organizing application suite called Advanced Uninstaller PRO 2006. This is a program with some years behind, since it reached version 7.5.3. Its purpose is to help you clean up your computer and keep it uncluttered all the time.

For some of you, the size of the installation package may be a bit large, but I can assure you Advanced Uninstaller PRO 2006 is worth the wait for a 15.5MB download. Let's suppose everybody has this downloaded; run the setup program and meet me at first run!

When starting the program for the first time, you will be asked to choose the visual theme you want to use (custom or default Windows and if you want allow this application to get useful information from the Internet or not). After that, you're in!

I began using this application a year, maybe two years ago. I can't remember it having a bad interface, all I can say is that it always kept adding new features, with small interface improvements in the meantime. The result is that today we have an excellent interface, with modern icons and extremely easy to use, considering the program's complexity.

The trial version has the same features as the registered one, its only problem is that it expires after 20 days. Let's check the most important tools available in Advanced Uninstaller PRO 2006!

The Installation Monitor is one of the most useful tools from this suite. Its goal is to watch the installation processes that occur on your system and log information about all the changes that the program has done to your system. This allows you to completely remove monitored programs in the future.

A great thing about the Installation Monitor is that you can set custom monitoring options. How's this, exactly? For example, you can choose which registry keys or disks/folders to monitor, the monitoring type for these two areas, and the INI files to monitor (all those from the Windows directory or only the ones that you specify).

One last excellent feature of this monitoring tool is that it can automatically detect a file you run as installation program based on its name and/or extension. Even better, you can also add your own file name patterns, including wildcards! Let's move on and find out more about the General Tools section.

There are nine tools available in this area. Uninstall Programs is an improved version of the Add/Remove Programs Control Panel applet, while the Monitored Installations tool gives you access to the tool that we talked before and its main functions.

The five managers present in this section help you handle better your startup programs, duplicate files, fonts, Control Panel applets and system services.

The last two items available in the General Tools area can be used to clean Windows temporary files, the first one, and various application traces and history files, the second one.

Moving on, we have two items in the Start Menu Tools area. First one can hide items from your Start Menu and the second one is a wizard that will remove broken shortcuts from it.

The Internet Explorer Tools are eight in number, and they can fix virtually every issue that can occur with Internet Explorer's components (unfortunately it can't add tabbed browsing to the old versions...), such as address bar history, cookies and visited pages, temporary Internet files, toolbars, plugins, ActiveX items and active context menus.

The Mozilla Firefox Tools are only three, but can prove quite useful. The first one allows you to view, delete and manage the address bar history entries, the second acts as a cookie manager, and the last one can remove, enable or disable the installed FireFox extensions.

At last, we have the Registry Tools triad: Cleaner, Optimizer and Backup/Restore. The first one allows you complete control, while the other two are wizard-driven.

The themes used by the program can be customized, allowing you to change hue, saturation and the font properties. Now, just one more name: the Rating Panel. I say no more, this is one that you must see for yourselves.

Advanced Uninstaller PRO 2006 is not a program worth trying, this is A MUST.

The Good

Best thing about this program are its ease of use, the features available and the outstanding Help system.

The Bad

Typos like "Modzila" should not have their place into such an application! Apart from this, I can't say anything bad about it.

The Truth

The truth has 15.5MB in size and is waiting for your mouse to point the "Download" link. I can't say if this is "the best", but it's a top uninstaller application, has a good price (only 39$) and can be used by everybody. Enjoy it!
