Tired of not knowing?

In short, this program is called CBId, detects the whole core components of your system, which are your processor and memory along with all the corresponding data like voltage number and clocks. Unlike your typical hardware device controller/manager/viewer, this program is specifically designed for the AMD user. For those that are savvy enough to have gotten AMD processors, you're in luck because this program was created for people like you. With this program, you're able to see every minute detail of your system and use it as a handy diagnostic tool.

What's Inside

This program is focused on the processor rather than the memory, so you'll get features that will let you change your processor multiplier, processor voltage, and the ability to change memory timings instantaneously.

It's separated into a few categories and that makes it easier for viewing your options. Your main tab is your 'Processor/Features' tab that shows some general and extended information. This usually means the Vendor name, central processor and what settings it's currently set to run in. The features part of it allows you to see some typical standard features (if you have MMX or 3DNow! Extensions), and some AMD64 specific features (if you support AMD64 Architecture and so on).

The next two main tabs are your 'Cache/Controller' tabs. Here you get to take a look at your first and second level Cache. The 'controller' aspect of it lets you view your Hyper-Transport I/O Link attributes, your Northbidge Capabilities and your DRAM controller settings.

Your next two tabs are your 'Mobility/P-State' tabs. These basically show your power management features, your core voltage/core frequency settings and your thermal power control. For the P-State setting, you can check out your temperature settings and a few more options.

You finally get a tweaking option that will make a lot of hardcore AMD users happy. You power users out there will also be satisfied because CBId's got some nifty little tricks up its sleeve. You're able to enable L1 Data Instruction Chache Checking, along with other tweaks (processor name modification and clock control register corrections). For those hardcore power users out there, this program even gives you the option of changing the name string of your processor.

Resembles CPU-Z in functionality, but has its own originality. It's worth a download and a trial.

The Good

It will let you see hordes of information, more than you're used to seeing about your AMD processor. It can even let you tweak some settings. You have the opportunity to take an in-depth look at your processor, features, cache, mobility, controller, and P-States.

The Bad

If you try CPU-Z, you'll see the similarities in both programs. It's also too easy to tweak it the wrong way. There aren't too many things that I can complain about.

The Truth

It will give you gobs of information, especially about the AMD processors. If you're ever to do some on-the-fly changes like core voltage, core multiplier, and so on, you're able to without restrictions. But beware, make sure you know exactly what you're doing when you change anything. You don't want to change something that will cause your system to become extremely unstable.
