Data synchronization applications give us the possibility to seamlessly facilitate file transfers between multiple locations, and the best ones can do this between different kinds of devices, such as computers and smartphones. This way, we can easily keep in touch with important information without needing access to the original device with the stored files.

EaseUS EverySync is a highly intuitive tool wrapped in a simplistic interface that's capable of synchronizing files and folders between local, network and removable drives, in addition to Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox storage accounts. Apart from a full sync mode, it allows one-way synchronization, either from the source to the target location, or vice versa.

License type and installation

The trial edition runs for 30 days without any limitations. Once this period expires, you can either uninstall the application or buy a license for the full package at $39.95 / €34.66.

The installation operation is fast and simple. This is not mentioned in the setup, but EaseUS automatically integrates an entry for EverySync in the Windows startup sequence, which means that it contributes to a slower system boot time. Users are not informed of this beforehand, nor are they given the possibility to disable this option (this can be done later, from the program's settings).

Intuitive interface with system tray integration

As far as the interface goes, EverySync adopts a large window with a neatly organized structure that can be seamlessly figured out by anyone, regardless of personal experience with such software. It also creates an icon in the system tray area at startup for quick access, and it gets sent there on exit.

The application works with synchronization jobs and you can assign as many tasks as you want. It is possible to back up files to a local, network or removable drive, upload them online by connecting to a Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox account, as well as to copy the items to an FTP location by establishing the computer name or IP address, port number, name and password (optionally make the connection anonymous).

For every deployed sync task, EaseUS populates a list with all files and indicates whether they have been copied or not via a small, colored icon (green for successful items). In this list you can study the name, format, date of modification, along with the availability status for each file.

Two-way or one-way synchronization mode

By default, the tool facilitates a two-way synchronization, which means that both locations will have identical content by the end of the job. However, you can switch to one-way synchronization mode, either from the left to the right (from the source to the output), or from the right to the left (from the output to the source).

It is possible to open a file or visit its location in Windows Explorer without leaving EverySync's interface, rename files, view their properties (sync mode and location), add new files to an online storage account, as well as make them available online or only offline.

If the program encounters any errors during sync jobs, it records them in a hidden area in the main frame (indicated by an orange exclamation point) which can be clicked to study details.

Right-clicking the app's icon in the system tray area brings up a small panel that shows the files currently being synchronized, along with the transfer speed. Apart from the fact that you can bring up the main window or exit the tool, you can also disable automatic sync mode.

When it comes to program preferences, you can modify the default synchronization path on the disk, disable automatic checkups for software updates, as well as remove the utility from the Windows autostart sequence.

The Good

The app worked smoothly on Windows 8.1 Pro during our evaluation, without hanging, crashing or prompting error dialogs. OS compatibility extends to older OS editions, including Windows XP.

It is very easy to use and includes help documentation.

With this app, you can synchronize files between local, network and removable drives, Google Drive, OneDrive and Dropbox storage accounts, as well as FTP locations. It features support for bi-directional and one-way sync (left to right, or right to left).

CPU and RAM consumption was low during sync jobs.

The Bad

As previously mentioned, the program automatically creates an entry in the Windows startup sequence, so it contributes to a slower boot time without asking for your permission, let alone give you the possibility to disable this option during installation.

It doesn't implement a notifications system via popup messages for ongoing and finished sync jobs. It doesn't show elapsed time or estimated remaining time, nor does it record task logs (apart from errors).

We couldn't accurately test file transfer speed due to the program's lack of a notifications system for completed tasks, as well as thorough log details with the start time, end time, transferred size and average speed.

The Truth

With all things considered, EaseUS EverySync seems to be a pretty reliable tool for synchronizing data between two different locations, both offline and online. It is highly intuitive, so you are welcomed to give it a shot.

NOTE: In association with EaseUS, we are giving away 50 free licenses for EaseUS EverySync 2. Normally, a key costs $39.95 / €34.37 (excluding VAT). Each license has a 1-year availability, works for 1 PC and must be activated before March 1, 2015. It applies to free minor software updates (not major).

In order to get a chance to win one, leave us a comment in the section below with something relevant to the app and make sure to pair it with a valid email address for contacting purposes. At the end of the promo, we will select 50 winners, notify them via email, and post their names on this page, so come back later to see if you've won.
