14 DAY TRIAL // Despite the many rumors that seemed to suggest Foxconn was considering pulling out of the consumer motherboard market, the company has just announced the introduction of a new high-end LGA 1155 board build around the Intel P67 Express chipset.
The motherboard is called Quantum Force Rattler and, it seems to take many design cues from its competitors as Foxconn has chosen to go with a black and red color scheme that reminds us of the ASRock Fatal1ty or Asus' ROG line of boards.
However, this is something pretty normal for the industry and what interests us more are the features that Foxconn has packed inside the Quantum Force Rattler.
Starting with the basics, the board features dual PCI Express x16 slots, that operate at x8 if both are populated, three PCIe x1 slots as well as a regular PCI slot and these are accompanied by four SATA 3Gbps ports and two SATA 6Gbps ports and, oddly enough, an IDE connector.
Power is provided via a12+2 phase PWM design that is cooled by a pair of heatsinks joined together with two heatpipes.
Other more advanced features include power and rest on-board buttons, a debug LCD display, voltage readout points and what appear to be as many as three BIOS chips.
Moving to the back of the Quantum Force Rattler, we find all the usual ports and connectors, including six USB 2.0 and two USB 3.0 ports, a PS/2 port, a pair of Gigabit Ethernet ports, a FireWire connector, two eSATA ports and 7.1-channel audio with S/PDIF out.
Also visible is a clear CMOS button, that can be used for quickly recovering from a failed overclocking attempt.
Sadly, no details regarding availability and pricing were disclosed by the company, but Foxconn's website lists the motherboard as “coming soon” to America, Asia and Europe. (via VR-Zone)
