Aren't you tired of serious things? I am talking about the programs I review here - antispyware, photo organizers, various system tools, text editors and many others... Of course they are useful, most of them are pretty easy to use, their prices are more or less OK, but where's the fun?
Don't worry! Since the weekend is only hours away, I have prepared some fun for you. This is not about drinking, having some exotic dancers on your table or generating random jokes (anyway, random generated sentences can be really fun, and I hope to find a program built for that purpose one day) on your computer. Today's the time for having some fun using photos. If you don't know where this is getting us to, you will find out right away, don't worry!
The name of today's fun generator is FunPhotor, a program that lets you combine your photos with well known artwork for obtaining comical images. The current version of this application is 5.35, what I have here is a free 7 days trial with some limitations and the installation kit is 5.9MB in size, being extremely easy to install. The full application is priced at 39.95$, which is not that much considering that you can use over 200 templates while using it.
First of all, the interface keeps up with the program's purpose - it's shiny, clean and attractive. Well, some people may not like it, of course, but that's life - you can't please everybody. Anyway, the good part is that FunPhotor is very easy to use and you can't get lost inside it.
When you work on a photo, there are four steps to follow: selecting the template, the photos, adjusting the photos and adding text into the picture. Now, let's see what they're all
about.
First, you have to choose the template you want to use. You will notice a blue area inside the photo - that is the location where you will have to place the photo of your friend or family member you want to play with. Doing this, I noticed that this program can only be used with heads of people or, why not, animals, but you can adjust the image masks as you wish, so this is not really a limitation. For the beginning, it's better to use what you get with the program without too many changes, but if you want to change one of the default templates, just push the Edit button.
Next, you have to choose your photo or one of those available into the program for placing into the scene. Nothing easier than that, all you have to do is pick one existing photo or press the Open button and choose one from your computer.
Adjusting the photos is reduced to moving, zooming and rotating them around to fit better into the scene and adjusting brightness, contrast and saturation.
At last, you can add some text to your work and it's done! The text can have its transparency and shadow properties customized and you can use any of the fonts that are recognized by Windows.
Finally, you can save your work as JPG, PNG, BMP, TIF or GIF, print it or send it as an email attachment. Fast and easy, isn't it? Now, off to the conclusions we go!
The Good
FunPhotor is one of those family programs that can help you have a lot of fun with your friends and family in front of the computer. Beginners will be delighted with this program, and I guess that this is its exact purpose.
The Bad
Since the program has enough nags, I think that the trial period should have been longer, and considering the price, I would like to see support for some additional file formats.
The Truth
FunPhotor is a part of your childhood fun when you used colored pencils to turn your friends into monsters or angels brought into the present, inside your computer. This is a program that young ones and their parents should enjoy at the same time, and although I wouldn't buy it, I wouldn't change my mind about trying it out. Enjoy!
