Though it has not gotten any updates since it was launched at CES this year, the Apollo series of hard drives from Imation has finally been expanded, the hardware maker unveiling two portable versions and two not so portable but still external models.

The two portable HDDs that Imation prepared are the Apollo Expert M200 and Apollo M100, which utilize USB 2.0 connectivity and the ArcSoft TotalMedia Backup software.

These two have capacities of 320GB, 500GB and 640GB, respectively and are already shipping, paired with warranties of one (M100) or 5 years (M200).

Additionally, both drives boast the 2.5-inch form factor and the M200 even comes bundled with a trial of the Norton Online Backup software (60 days).

The Apollo Expert D300 and D200 are the external hard disk drives and have 500GB, 1TB and 2TB models, all housed inside brushed silver industrial enclosures.

Both are bundled with the ArcSoft TotalMedia backup and the same 60-day trial of Norton Online backup.

What's more, the D300 is set apart from the others because it actually supports faster speeds thanks to its USB 3.0 port.

“The explosion of large multimedia files, such as high-resolution photos and video, and the fact that even small businesses can be data-intensive, means households and businesses need to capture and save more digital information than ever,” says Jason Elles, global brand leader for Imation.

“Whether they’re seeking exceptional value or high speeds, using a drive personally or professionally, or backing up their desktop or managing data on the go, there’s an Apollo external hard drive to utilize,” he added.

Unfortunately, while the Apollo M100 and Expert M200 portable hard drives are already on sale, the D300 and D200 won't become available until October.

Still, they can be said to cover a fairly wide consumer segment, their prices being of between $80 and $200.
