I hope system optimizers won't become boring to you, because I always had a weakness about them. After all, speeding up and cleaning your computer is like tuning your car's engine.

You may even need different performance settings for each of the people using a computer, or for the different activities you perform on your machine, if you're the only user. Just think that, as a sports car is not good at all off road, the same way a computer set up for office work will behave badly when used for gaming or image processing, even though it complies with the minimum hardware requirements.

Today's program claims to deal successfully with most Windows problems and the best part is that you don't have to spend ages checking radio buttons, dragging sliders or selecting items from drop down menus.

Intelli HyperSpeed, today's system optimizer, is targeting mostly the beginners, but can also please advanced users, since it's not such a rigid application like some of the so-called optimizers that enable you to choose Normal, High or Extreme optimization... or something like that. But let's leave those behind and start checking our program...

The installation kit is small enough even for dial-up users, only 3.4MB, so downloading it shouldn't be much trouble. Obviously, the setup process will run without any problems and you'll find yourself facing the small and nice program interface.

The main window of the program is small and kept as simple as possible. The Help menu can be found in the upper left of the interface, breaking the usual rules (we all know that the Help menu is usually placed to the end of the menu bar, in the right extremity). What can be done from the Intelli HyperSpeed's main window?

First of all, you can get a bit of information about your computer - the operating system and processor type, the amount of physical memory and the video card model are displayed in the upper area of the main window.

Next, you have to select the PC Type (to be more specific, you have to choose the purpose of your computer). According to what you select here, different optimization settings will be applied after reboot. When you press the Advanced button to be found at the bottom of the PC Type area, you are taken to a section where individual optimizations can be selected, but I'll talk about that just a bit later.

This program will also optimize your Internet connection, but in order to do so it has to know your connection type. You can select your connection type from the drop down menu that can be found at the bottom of the main window.

To apply your optimization profile, you have to press the Optimize! button and then reboot your computer, just that, but now I will get back to the Advanced settings, as I promised.

Fortunately for me and the other past, present and future users of this program, one won't optimize the system blindfolded, and now I will talk a little about its Advanced options. This window has five main areas, as it follows...

Speed Network is about improving your network and Internet parameters. Even if there aren't so many options available in this window, no matter the section you're in, if you move the mouse cursor over a setting you will get details about the items that are optimized and their values.

Speed CPU/Memory is about boosting applications performance using different methods, and most useful one seems to be the Intelli ServiceOptimizer, a function that disables the useless system services.

Speed Windows cleans all garbage from your system, like prefetch information, registry tracks, system cache and can also optimize Office and Media Player, enable the File System Optimization and more.

Last two areas are called Speed Appearance and Speed Healing, with the first one taking care of the Windows visual settings that affect performance, such as font smoothing, alpha blending or menu animation, and the second being able to fix various improper system settings.

This program is a little big tool, and you should check it out, even if its price is way too high in my opinion. I'll see you in HyperSpace!

The Good

Intelli HyperSpeed is small, fast and very easy to use. Its Help system is well done, and the tooltips found in the Advanced Options area can prove very useful.

The Bad

The trial version is limited to 21 days, but also has some core options disabled. Considering the way this program is designed and its targeted users, the need to use it can't end in a week, so releasing a full-featured time limited trial should make more sense. Power users won't like not being able to fine tune all settings manually. Also, the price seems too high for me, especially when there are other programs that offer more for even less money.

The Truth

Intelli HyperSpeed is not a bad application at all, but maybe it wasn't the one for me today. If you aren't a pretentious power user yet and have the time, give this program a chance, maybe it's the one for you!
