The notebook market is one of the most dynamic segments in today's PC industry, as a series of leading companies are trying to increase their market share with new product releases. That is the case of TriGem USA, a company mostly known for its Averatac brand, which provides users with a wide range of computer systems and form factors. Just recently, the company has announced that it has expanded its line of mobile computing products with the official introduction of the new 12-inch Averatec N2700
notebook. According to the company, the new system has been designed as an alternative to the netbook market, offering the potential of a full-fledged PC, inside a larger netbook casing.

“The N2700 notebook is an ideal solution for consumers looking for the sweet spot in terms of price, portability and performance,” said Henry Hewitt, vice president of sales at TriGem USA. “It’s larger and more powerful than a typical netbook computer and offers great portability over notebooks sporting 13-inch screens and larger.”

The Averatec N2700 will provide the end-user with the computing power of an Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 processor, running at a cool 2GHz. In addition, the laptop has been equipped with 4GB of DDR2 800MHz RAM memory, a 250GB SATA hard drive, a SuperMulti 8X dual-layer DVD/CD optical drive, integrated wireless 802.11 b/g, Ethernet LAN, three USB 2.0 ports, one IEEE 1394 (firewire) port, mic-in, headphone-out and a multi-in-one card reader.

The 12.1-inch WXGA display is powered by the integrated Intel GMA X4500HD graphics solution. In addition, the display is featured with an integrated 1.3MP webcam, enabling immediate support for various chatting applications. The system comes equipped with a Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit operating system and weighs in at 4.0 pounds. Unfortunately, the PC vendor hasn't detailed the pricing and availability of its new portable PC.
