Since spyware doesn't disappear, I see no reason not to review another program from the antispyware tools' family, so today is ParetoLogic's application turn. Let's find out more about it! Lately, I wasn't able to find any antispyware tool with an original name, and it seems today is not the moment to break the rule, so here it goes: ParetoLogic Anti-Spyware! The last version of the program is 5.0, and what I have is a shareware version with a free scanning module, whatever that may be, while the full version costs 39.95$. Its installation kit has 4.2MB in size and the setup process should be very easy to complete for everyone. Now, let's see what's above and what lies below... I never had the chance to see this program before, and its interface proved to be impressive. ParetoLogic Anti-Spyware interface is well organized, the graphics elements look great, and the best part is that you can't get lost inside the program. There are two major areas that you can explore, called Anti-Spyware and Active Protection. The Anti-Spyware area has five menu items that can be used to handle most on demand scanning related tasks. The Home screen gives you some brief information about the program, some useful Web links and, of course, the chance to perform a quick or a full system scan. The Scan, Ignore and Backup areas don't have any special options inside, as I expected. The scanning options can be changed inside the Settings window, accessible straight from the main window. At last, the Scheduling feature gives you the opportunity to schedule a quick scan or a full one to run on a regular basis. Moving on, I found a really good Active Protection
area, filled with everything your system needs to be protected. The stars here are called Internet and Windows Monitors. The first one protects you from browser hijacking, network attacks and unwanted software installations, while the second is here to monitor and protect your startup and shell settings from unwanted changes. We have on demand scanning, we have proactive protection, both into a good looking and easy to use interface, so things look good to me. Let's jump to the conclusions now! The GoodParetoLogic Anti-Spyware was a pleasure to use, its features and interface look very good, and the amount of system resources it uses is decent. The BadI don't know why some software companies keep pulling prices up for such programs, instead of working on quality and features and keeping prices as low as possible to be attractive to a larger mass of users. This one is too expensive, in my opinion, and this should be enough for the "black balls" section. The TruthParetoLogic Anti-Spyware is nice, useful and easy to use, but I can't ignore the price problem. Despite the fact it's not a worthy program for me, I strongly advise each one of you to check it out and share your experience with the rest of us here. Good luck! Here are some snapshots of the application in action:

| Comment #1 by: fred on 01 Jan 2009, 02:50 UTC | reply to this comment | Paritologic Privacy Control works ok on XP. BUT, if you install their (Paritol's) Registry cleaner AND privacy control on your Vista, you are in for a world of problems. Ranging from very poor technical support who, rather than solving their problem, making you jump thru hoops installing Logmein, and then don't do squat for over 7 days. In short, Paritol's Customer support sucks. No 800 number. Convulted web-page difficult to find customer support, only to find you are left with completely useless folks on the other end. Also, Paritol's Xoft SE works okay on XP, but on Vista, two recurring false positives. Paritol advertises Xoft se as "Vista ready," but their customer support is crap. |
| Comment #1.1 by: John Gardiner on 05 Jan 2009, 11:52 GMT | Irun Kaspersky Internet and was looking for a back-up and chose Paretologic Antyspy. Big mistake, picks nothing up, false positives are the norm and with its `blistering speed` I doubt whether it ever will amount to anything.
Have put Spysweeper on instead and not only much cheaper but soon shows why it is the leader of the pack. It has the best realtine I have encountered does a full scan in ten minutes and despite the pundits saying don`t run it with another it is as smooth as silk with `K` and is now giving me unreal total protection.
As for`P`, the Canadians can have it. |
| Comment #2 by: LaForge Pub2 on 01 Apr 2009, 12:10 UTC | reply to this comment | 1) GUI looks good
2) Linked Virus info Base is much better than AVG
BUT
3) Extremely slow.
4) Dozens of FALSE positives !!!
5) Detects my own (benign) code as a BANKER Trojan !!!
6) Abysmal (non-existent tech support), no telephone contact.
7) Therefore useless CRAP, DON'T buy it

| Comment #3 by: Ray on 02 Apr 2009, 13:19 UTC | reply to this comment | I refused to download and even test. While visiting their website and doing a bit of reading it would not let me navigate away from their shopping cart. Each time I wanted to navigate away the site popped up boxes asking me if I was sure I wanted to leave the page. I ended up just closing down my browser just to get off the site.
IMO any company/site that tries to hijack the browser and not let it leave the site is nothing more than a scam site that you need to be VERY VERY careful of. |
| Comment #4 by: richard c on 18 Apr 2009, 13:42 UTC | reply to this comment | currently running kaspersky security 2009 set to max

Today whilst registering at Tech Republic regarding issues I came accross
yes you guessed it Paretologic driver cure which I downloaded and ran,
found that the drivers were past the sell by date so I proceeded to purchase
the software. whilst processing the origanal selection I for something
over 30$ i was offered a bundle so wat the hell I was allready in for
th thirty + so whats a few more dollors for that I gotDriverCure:
RegCure:
Privacy Controls:
Paretologic Anti-Spyware:
Data Recovery Pro:
I ran the Anti Spyware it found a trojan and CLEARED it.
Ive been trying to recover lost data on another pc after a drive failure as a result of an infection which was reformated after several attempts using Stellar Pheonix it just kept locking up but to its kredit it did identify lots of empty folders so then I Ran the DATA Recovery Pro: which is still running but heres the thing this SOFTWARE is GIFT from Heaven it is actually finding the lost DATA . So for my 49$ I think that is money well spent.
and as for the RegCure: well I thought my privacy was secure after having used History Kill.........................But Reg Cure is the Bees Knees all in all
things are great both Laptop has improved on performance and Ive got my Data Back and all for just 49$ REMEMBER QUALITY IS REMEMBERED LONG AFTER PRICE IS FORGOTTEN. From now on PoretoLogic will be up there with Kaspersky, Diamond CS, Nod32,
one question who is PoretoLogic anyway? they deserve a big thank you because they are the Hero's of the day

| Comment #5 by: Eden on 20 Apr 2009, 13:43 UTC | reply to this comment | I had been experiencing a real slow down with my system. I was running MacAvie and PC Spyware Doctor. The Doc's scans never finished, but seem to lock up my computer. I downloaded ParetoLogic Anti-Spyware and was allowed to run it for free. I was thinking, "why not" ... I'm not getting anywhere with the other two programs. ParetoLogic caught several malware and spyware, including a Trojen. The scans were quick too, not hours and then locking up. It was offered on sale the day I ran the scan and found the problems for $29. Finally I have my PC back. I'm going to uninstall the other two programs I mentioned. |
| Comment #6 by: Shavsha on 03 Jul 2009, 11:27 UTC | reply to this comment | OH MY GOSSSSHHHHHHHHH.....I downloaded this software and first they said it was a total package spyware/antivirus/Regcure and something else for 39.90 and then charged my card 40.90. THEN the software was FULLLLLL OF VIRUSES.......it took me hours to get most of it cleaned up until i was too exhausted to stay up any more and still be awake at work the next day. I still have to go home and finish cleaning the mess it all made up.....I am FURIOUS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! |
| Comment #7 by: Pitonosaure on 21 Jul 2009, 22:28 UTC | reply to this comment | I'm a new custommer and I must say I'm furious about my new purchase and I don't like hidden information. I went over and over your web site and even in the purchase section, NOTHING is mentionned about the fact that the Licence Key is only good for 1 year. I'ts only when I started the program and enterted the licence key that I saw i little "Renew" section and then, I discover that the licence was only working for one year. This is very near from FRAUD. Not giving the Entire information to a new custommer in unnaceptable. By hidding this important information, you suggest that the licence key is good forever, wich is not the case! I buy a lot of stuff in the interner and it is the first time I see a company playing the "HIDDEN POLICY" just to make sure you catch your ratio of suckers. Even in the FAQ section, the "term of Use section, nothing about this. This is a outragous practice and I will make sure that every forum on the net knows about your Hidden policy practice.
A very frustated not renewing custumer |

| Comment #9 by: Nathan on 25 Sep 2009, 23:42 UTC | reply to this comment | This program turns malicious if you download it but don't buy it. It said it would scan for and fix registry errors for free, so I downloaded it. It did scan for free, but it only offered to fix 5 registry errors that could be easily fixed manually. So, I declined the offer and uninstalled the software. No other profiles were logged on and I removed it in the "Add and Remove Software" section of Control Pannel (I have XP). But then, I started getting spam popups from them telling me I needed to fix my registry errors or my computer would crash, and then it goes on to tell me about how for the low price of $49.95 I could salvage my broken computer. Yeah, I didn't fall for it, so I went in and deleted the files manually since apparently Windows hadn't. But now, I keep getting RUNDLL errors from Windows saying that it couldn't load the files. It happens at about 4:00p.m. everyday. My opinion? Don't be lazy. Go down to your local software store and buy something that's not a virus. |
| Comment #10 by: Don Kerr on 30 Jan 2010, 17:42 UTC | reply to this comment | I had someone send me a movie file with an odd extension. When I searched for something to allow me to play it I came across Paretologic, which said it could fix my problem.
So I downloaded something from them and eventually it asked for credit card details and that I had to pay. So I closed and uninstalled their product.
Now I cannot open any movie file, so they did something to my computer to not allow me to do any movie files now.
They are obviously a malicious software group. |
| Comment #11 by: Skip on 31 Mar 2010, 04:42 UTC | reply to this comment | At first it looked like it was really doing something. But every time it ran it showed tons of registry problems that it said it fixed. I'm really having my doubts that it fixed anything to that there were really any problems to start out with. The more I used it, the slower the computer ran. Then to top it all off, the program quit running and they wanted another $40! What a rip off!
STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!! |
| Comment #12 by: davedo on 21 Jun 2010, 10:14 UTC | reply to this comment | Nothing has been right since paretologic took my money. even those who suggest that the uninstall is goods is ok are wrong. after all that there seems to be a complete format and re instalation as the only reasonable result charletons are they? yes |
| Comment #13 by: davedo on 21 Jun 2010, 10:18 UTC | reply to this comment | Did that, they said that, same result,. A RIP OFF |
| Comment #14 by: eillah on 18 Jul 2010, 02:59 UTC | reply to this comment | I never down loaed or heard of parapalogic. I keep getting a dong sound and a message that says rundel c files lost. Not computer savy but if my c files are lost than my computer wouldn't work, and everything is just fine. I have norton and it says I have no viruses and I have no idea of what is going on. Anyone experience this? |
| Comment #15.1 by: stevoh on 10 Feb 2011, 04:05 GMT | absolutely..........a scam of the worst kind. |
| Comment #16 by: stevoh on 10 Feb 2011, 04:04 UTC | reply to this comment | It's a good way to waste $30.00 of your hard earned money.... |
| Comment #17 by: Tony on 18 Jun 2011, 12:26 UTC | reply to this comment | I can't see one thing that ParetoLogic did for my computer. I ask for protection againse flash pop ups and I still have that problem. |
| Comment #18 by: mars on 03 Sep 2011, 19:39 UTC | reply to this comment | I downloaded a "free" version of paretologic and after it did it's thing on my computer directed me to register it. I did, with my name and email. It then went to the price and wouldn't do anything unless I paid. I uninstalled it but when uninstalling an "error" came up. I clicked ok and it uninstalled. Every time I put on the computer the same "error" comes up. The computer is slower than ever |
| Comment #19 by: dandan on 23 Oct 2011, 22:25 UTC | reply to this comment | I was downloading this program and it acted up in the middle, so I re-ran it. This time it made me register and expect to pay for it. It had not even completed half the task, yet it had already found almost 600 errors. I knew this was not possible. Actually I was only looking to fix my system restore - it acts like it is working but tells me at the end that it could not be completed. When I tried deleting the program in control panel, my add/remove programs was no longer working, along with a few others. It was also blocking my AVG programs, so I restarted and then ran my AVG tuneup. After that, I could remove ParetoLogic from my computer. | |
