Haven’t you always wanted a program to store all your activities, reminders, notes, passwords, RSS feeds and even check your Gmail account or quickly launch various applications? ReminderCube is here to satisfy these needs and even more.

Multitasking, as you may all think, is not only a computer feature, but also a requirement for all of us who work on multiple projects at the same time or have more than one job. To make your life easier you can use various software programs to organize, remember and manage your daily activities.

ReminderCube is a complete software that will not only help you setup your meetings, remember important tasks or write down various notes, but also to check your email, RSS feeds, launch applications, store passwords, check the weather, manage your address book and even perform multiple Internet searches at the same time.

Believe it or not, this application is licensed as a Freeware, which adds up to its value. The main interface looks very good, is well structured and divided in three areas, providing you quick access to all its features.

The left panel provides you with the means to quickly add a new event, task, note or refresh your Gmail account. Here you can also browse through the calendar to view your future tasks, plan new ones or view the alarms for the current day.

The magic starts in the right panel where you can access all the tools provided by ReminderCube. Each tool will be opened in its own window and can be arranged however you want for quick and easy access.

Your daily activities can be easily managed from the Your Activities window. A small inconvenient we found is the fact that none of the buttons (present in most of the app’s windows) display at least a tooltip with the button’s description when you hover the mouse over them.

Although the icons may seem suggestive for each type of task, at the first contact with the application you might just have to press all of them to find out what they do.

Adding a new reminder is as easy as pressing a single button. Generally the first button in each window is used to add new records to that window. Reminders can be easily scheduled, prioritized, notified by an alarm and even customized with their own icon to easily distinguish them.

During our test we didn’t see any difference between High, Medium or Low priority reminders besides the title shown in the reminder window. At least a color code should be applied to each type for an easier separation.

Daily events can be programmed the same as your reminders with the addition of the event repeating option. You can setup the occurrence of your events on a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly basis to suit your every need. You can also toggle between Day, Week, Month or All events display for a more convenient event management.

If you’re sick of multiple sticky notes that lie on your desk, ReminderCube gives you an alternative. It allows you to store multiple notes and even export them as RTF files.

If you have a Gmail account with the help of ReminderCube you can quickly check your inbox and be notified when you receive new emails. Setting up your account takes only seconds and it will save you the trouble of accessing your email from a browser or email management utility.

RSS feeds can also be handled by ReminderCube. You just need to add the feed address, setup the update interval and you’re good to go. Unfortunately, the application doesn’t offer any other customization options, but it will always keep you up to date with the latest news.

Another tool you will find within ReminderCube is the application launcher. With the help of the launcher you will be able to launch not only applications, but also folders and even websites.

The process is simple, enter the file, folder or URL address, give it a name for quick reference and assign a category so you can quickly find it. Or you can simply drag and drop the application, file or folder you want to launch and ReminderCube will automatically perform the necessary steps to add it for you.

The program also features a Password Manager to keep all your passwords safe and in one place. Unfortunately, during our tests it didn’t allow us to create a new "keystore" thus making it useless for now.

If you’re thinking how the weather will be in the next hours or days, the Weather widget provided by ReminderCube might give you the answer. Using a well-known weather information provider (WeatherBug), this widget will always keep you up to date with the latest weather reports for one or multiple locations providing temperature, wind, gusts and rain information.

ReminderCube also offers the possibility to store and manage all your contacts. Through the Address Book you can store information about your contacts including work and personal info.

Among the aforementioned features we also find a simple image viewer and a web searching tool. The later allows you to perform multiple searches, on various search engines, at the same time.

Just enter your search terms, choose the search engines you want to use and press the Search button. The application will then open all the search engines you selected, with the corresponding search query, in your default web browser.

The Good

Whether you need to remember future tasks, write notes or view the current weather for your location, ReminderCube provides you with the right tools.

You will also be able to check your email and RSS feeds, launch applications, manage your contacts and even perform multiple Internet searches at the same time.

The Bad

Besides the Notes and Web search screens, any of the buttons present in the rest of the windows don’t display at least a popup message with the button description when you hover the mouse over it.

Reminders should be differentiated at least with a color code for quick management. The export notes option is only limited to RTF files, adding some other formats (TXT, DOC, PDF) will make it more convenient.

Gmail account management could use a little refurbish. At the moment you can view only the last 20 messages received and you can read them partially from ReminderCube. Adding the ability to read the entire email and view all your inbox messages can be of good use.

The RSS feed reader will keep you updated but it’s not that great. We encountered some problems with some feeds where ReminderCube didn’t manage to display the entire news content.

The Image viewer should support more image formats (BMP, GIF, TIFF etc.) besides JPG and PNG.

The Truth

ReminderCube is an all-in-one utility that can spare you time and effort to manage your daily activities. Ignoring its minor glitches, ReminderCube can be a very good asset to busy people combining multiple tools and gadgets into a single application.

Its potential is great, but the developers need to concentrate more on fixing and improving the current features for a better user experience.

Here are some snapshots of the application in action:
