Malware is all over the place. The Internet is filled with all sort of crap, and taking a virus from the Web can put you in a nasty situation. You know how difficult it is to remove it from your computer. Fortunately, there are tools that help you get rid of all of them.

One of these tools is the one that I am going to present to you. Its name is RemoveIT Pro and the developer is InCode Solutions. This version of the software is free for non commercial use, so you can use it at home with no problems. There is also a more advanced option to which you can upgrade, that costs $15. This little application claims to clean your PC of the most popular malware available.

The interface of the software is not at all special. All the options available are displayed vertically on the right side of the application window. The first of the options is Scan for viruses button. The button unleashes the software's search engine.

The next option is called Update. By pressing it, you get to update the virus database of the application. If you want to check when the last update took place you can take a look at the lower right corner of the main application window. There will be displayed both the date and the hour of the update.

An antivirus application cannot be a true protecting software without a quarantine feature. This option can be found at the end of the buttons column. Here, you can send all the viruses you find on your machine.

At the beginning, I thought that the program is only an antivirus, but it will also provide you with features that help you manage the active processes. The Process Manager is the tool to do that. Its purpose is similar to the Task Manger from your Windows operating system, thus you can end an undesired task.

The Services Manager will help you start or stop the services on your computer. The Services Manager window displays the name of the services, the path to their location, the status (running or stopped) and the startup type (manual, disabled or automatic). If one service is stopped, you can restart it from this window. By checking the available options for this feature you will notice the Details button.

It will give you a more in depth view of the services. There are three tabs in here: Startup Programs, Services Manager and Keyboard Filter Drivers. The first tab gives you a chance to manage the applications that load with your Windows. In the second tab, the user can check the services. The non-Microsoft services are marked with a little icon in order to differentiate them. This way you will not disable some essential services required by the operating system. You can set the startup mode for each of the items displayed (automatic, manual and disabled).

The Full Report Log allows the user to build a log report. You get to choose the items to be put in the log: Infected files, Active Processes, Startup files and Active Services. If you press Build Log button, the software will begin a short scan of the computer. Immediately after the scan, a notepad file will open containing all the selected information.

If the software has some bugs, the developer makes available the means of reporting them to the producer. The same option is available for reporting new viruses the software does not detect.

The Good

The software is easy to use. The fact that it is free makes it even more appealing. I checked my Task Manager to see how much computer memory the software is using during the scan. It required almost 16MB of RAM.

The Bad

I could not properly test the removing function, as the software did not find any threat on my computer.

The Truth

The software used to be listed on www.spywarewarrior.com as a rogue application. But for some time now it has been delisted. This version is free for non commercial use. To be frank, I would use it only for the process and services manager, but since these can be managed from Windows...

The database from October 11th to October 15th comprises over 300 signatures.

Here are some snapshots of the application in action:
