With so little time left until the start of the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, fans all over the world are gathering to the southern continent to support their country in this great event that takes place once every four years. Even the supporters that don't have the possibility to view this event live in South Africa are preparing at home with flags, horns and T-shirts resembling the ones of their favorites.

To celebrate this world event, we have tested a simple application that will help you track your team's evolution throughout the competition. Named simply South Africa 2010 – World Cup, this software gives you the possibility to view the match schedule, show both groups and second stage table, build and export statistics and also allows you to update the results online.

The app comes as Donationware, which means it is free to use without any limitations, but if you like it, you can support its developer by donating any amount of money through the Donate button.

The interface is simple and lets you easily track and enter your favorite team’s results throughout the competition. The main window displays the First Stage of the World Cup – the Group matches. First of all, for a better experience, you can setup the Timezone Difference to view the appropriate time when the matches will be played.

When you press the button with a clock icon, a window will appear where you will be able to choose your time zone and the application will automatically calculate the time difference and adjust all the matches’ time to know exactly when you can view them in your country. If you don't have an active Internet connection, you can enter the difference manually and get the same result.

You can view the scheduled matches for every group from A to H along with their date, time and location where they will be played. After you have seen a match or you know its score, you can enter it in the brackets next to each event.

When the first stage is over, you have to manually choose the first to fourth place teams noting that only the first two will advance to the next stage. In the second Stage window, you will be able to follow your team to its road to the Final. Here, you will find all the matches structured in Round of 16, Quarter-finals, Semi-finals, the match for the third place and the Final. The application also displays the date, time and location of every event so you won't miss it.

If you enter the score for every match, the winning team will automatically be placed in the bracket corresponding to the next leg of the competition. Also in this window, after you complete all the matches, the program will display the first, second and third place teams in the bottom right corner of this window. The only drawback is that you do not have a separate bracket for matches decided at penalty shootout and you will have to cumulate the score for an accurate result.

The Statistics window will display a detailed match statistic for every group and team according to their results. You can view statistics for the first Stage, second Stage or for the entire competition. This will help you monitor your favorite team standings in the group matches or view the overall standings at the end of the competition.

This has a drawback too, as it does not sort the teams by their points and standings in their groups and can be a little confusing. If you want to save this list, the program gives you two choices: to save it as a text file or as HTML.

Finally, the Schedule tab of South Africa 2010 – World Cup will give you quick information about all the matches. It can display the date, time and location where they will be played. From this window, you can also view the complete match played, along with their results for your favorite team or any other team in the competition.

The program features another great option that can come in handy, namely online match result update. It will search the internet and automatically update the database with the latest scores.

South Africa 2010 – World Cup is a simple and useful piece of software that will come in handy at the upcoming FIFA World Cup event allowing you to track the progress of your favorite team and always be up to date with the latest scores.

The Good

South Africa 2010 – World Cup is a must-have program that will keep all the scores and results of the FIFA World Cup in one lightweight database allowing you to track your favorite team's progress and be updated with the latest team standings and future matches.

The Bad

The application misses a few features like sorting by rank and the ability to enter penalty results separately that could have made it a full-featured yet simple FIFA World Cup management tool.

The Truth

If you're a football fan and would love to have a complete view of all the matches and fixtures from the South Africa FIFA World Cup, this program will surely satisfy your needs and give you a detailed but also an overall look of the entire event.
