Since the last system cleaner review some time has passed and even worse, I tried to find a nice program from this category and I had no luck...until now, because yesterday I was really amazed to find that System Cleaner, today's subject, had no review yet! These being said, let's check it out!

The installation package is 2.8MB in size and the setup process won't lead you into any trouble. The application offers a lot for this small size package, so let's start checking out the goodies!

As most programs in this class, System Cleaner has an excellent interface that is a real pleasure to look at and use. Basically, there are six areas to explore in the menu placed on the left of the program's main window, including the Welcome area. Let's see what they are all about!

First area is the Welcome screen that allows you to start the Quick Maintenance tool and see the system's summary status. The Quick Maintenance tool optimizes your Windows system with only one mouse click, taking care of three aspects - junks and obsolete files, broken shortcuts and faulty or old registry entries.

The 15-days trial version that I have here will only fix some of the errors it encounters, but it's good to know that the full version can clean them all. My opinion about this is the same as always, the producers should let all features enabled, since this is a time-limited trial and the program should be used on a regular basis, not once in a lifetime.

The Clean up & Repair area has only two tools, designed to help you clean your disk and registry. The Disk Cleaner can get rid of the junk and obsolete files, broken shortcuts and Internet cache files, while the Registry Cleaner takes care of eleven areas, starting with registry integrity and ending with three deep scans of invalid paths to be found in the Windows registry.

Moving on, we stop at the Optimize & Improve screen. It seems that System Cleaner is not as feature rich as many of its competitors, since we have only two features here - Registry Defrag and Duplicate Files (the name should have been "Duplicate Files Finder", but I wasn't the one to design the program...). What I really liked here is the fact that the Duplicate Files tool greets you depending on the time of the day when you start it, and I must admit that you don't see this often!

In the Privacy & Security area there are another two useful tools, the Privacy Protector and the Shredder. The first one cleans your browsing history and other personal information, while the latter can purge files using a wide range of methods, including the famous Gutmann 35-pass deletion.

The System Control area offers access to three management tools that allow you to control which programs are run at Windows startup, manage your uninstall list and also manage and troubleshoot installed Browser Extensions. Each of these tools is very easy to use and does its job perfectly.

At last, we have the Analyze & Compare area. The tools available here are the Disk Space Explorer, the System Snapshot and File Associations Manager. The Disk Space Explorer is my favorite, allowing you to scan your hard drive's partitions and check the space used by your files in one of the two graphical displays or by file types and owners.

The Options area is very rich, allowing complete customization of all the tools available in System Cleaner, and the Rescue Manager is a good addition that can get you out of trouble if one of your actions went wrong.

For me it's time to move on, but for you it's time to start visiting System Cleaner's land. Enjoy your journey!

The Good

This program is small, handsome; it was a real pleasure to use it and does everything it should do the right way.

The Bad

First of all, Disk Space Explorer has a little problem when switched to file types mode - it locks. I was patient, believe me, and the data that I scanned was only 5.3GB in size!

Other than that, System Cleaner is way too expensive when placed next to its competitors and has only a few of the features that they have.

The Truth

System Cleaner could be a great tool, only if it would have more features and a lower price. The way it is now, it's only a really nice and useful application, easy to use and well designed, that is worth your time, so go ahead and check it out!
