14 DAY TRIAL // Although you can find all kinds of printed calendars in the souvenir shops all over the world, you must admit that it's better to design your own calendar, to choose its layout, the displayed images and even to insert your special days in it.
Whether you want a monthly calendar, a yearly calendar, a birthday calendar or a weekly one, TKexe Kalender provides them all. And even better, you can customize each and every element of the created calendar. Personally, I've been looking for an application that can do all that for a very long time.
TKexe Kalender is available in 17 language versions, including English, French, Deutsch, Spanish, Italian and other European languages. The installer is less than 10 MB and it will create a shortcut on your Windows desktop, in order to make TKexe Kalender easily accessible.
The first thing you have to do after opening the application is to select the type of calendar that you want to build. A monthly calendar will contain 12 pages, one for each month and the cover, which is also fully customizable. The annual calendar format shows all the months on one page, with your chosen image in the center. Another version you can design is the weekly calendar that creates a page for every week of the year, allowing you to insert a page title, an image and a description for the displayed picture. Finally, the last type of calendar that TKexe Kalender enables you to create is the Birthday Calendar, that is similar to the monthly calendar, but instead of displaying the names of the days and the year, lets you write names of the celebrated people in the corresponding date fields and you can also display their pictures on the same page.
After deciding on the calendar type, the next choice you are asked to make is the size of the calendar page. The easy way is to choose one of the recommended sizes, of the usual paper dimensions, but if you have something else in mind, you can enter any values for the page width and height. Next, you have to select the period, the number of calendar pages and the year. If you change your mind regarding the time period, you can always modify it later; just by pressing the 'Next page' button, a new month will be created.
TKexe Kalender offers a wide range of calendar templates, both classic and modern, with different text formatting and placing, and various color schemes to satisfy even the most demanding users.
After following all the steps that I've mentioned until here, you should be looking at the first page of your calendar. Now, let's start customizing it!
The main items of the page calendar that you can configure according to your preferences are the image it displays, the text, the name of the month and year, the week day names and also, each and every date.
In the Image Configuration window, you can set the image number, specify its path, select the preferred effect, if you want to apply one and adjust values for the picture's size and position in the page. The text configuration process is just as easy and intuitive, allowing you to customize the font, the alignment and position of the textbox. You can add as many textboxes as you wish on one page and use the custom settings for all the calendar pages, so that you wouldn't have to format the calendar items for every page.
The background color of your calendar is another element that you can edit, by choosing it to be in a linear or radial gradient. As you can see, there aren't many things that you can't modify in TKexe Kalendar. Actually, I haven't found one... You can even set a text for each date of the month and select its display manner. If you want the holidays to be highlighted in your calendar, you can either import the National holidays from the application's database, although they are only available for a few countries (UK, USA, Germany and Austria), or set your own special days.
This calendar builder provides you with two view modes: one is the Edit mode, where you can perform all the changes on your calendar and the Overview that shows you all the pages of your newly created calendar, including the cover. Clicking on any page of your calendar in the Overview mode will open it for editing.
The General Day Settings window enables you to select the order of the days in a week, if you want to show Sunday or Monday as the first day of the week and the days marked as weekend. The weekend days, by default Saturday and Sunday, will be highlighted with a different color than your custom holidays.
An essential feature of TKexe Kalender is the fact that you can print your calendar. What would the use of a calendar designer be if it didn't allow you to print your work? Fortunately, that isn't the case with TKexe Kalender. It lets you select the pages you want to print and you also have the possibility to print using the TKexe Printservice, where you can select the time period to print.
If you created a page layout that you will probably want to use next year, one of the additional features of TKexe Kalender enables you to save the current page layout as a template, this way enriching the list of available calendar templates. To ensure the continuity of your calendars, you can take advantage of another Extra feature that enables you to copy the settings of one year to another one.
The Good
TKexe Kalender provides you with all the tools that you ever wanted to find in a calendar builder. It allows you to customize every little thing in your calendar, and the best of all, it's absolutely free!
The Bad
Although it allows you to view the calendar page at different zoom levels, it doesn't provide the possibility to view multiple pages at the same time in the Edit mode. I can't say that this feature is really necessary, but it would look better to have two pages opened, than to view the whole current calendar page with the rest of the window blank.
The Truth
TKexe Kalender is a complete calendar designer that can satisfy the expectations of all users. I didn't find a thing that I wanted to change in my calendar that this software wouldn't let me. All in all, TKexe Kalender is a very good application in its domain and you don't have to pay for it.
