Do you have a hard time remembering all the tasks you have to do in a day? We present Yellow Reminder, the tool that will make sure you won't forget that important meeting or your friends' birthday anymore.

Today's society is mainly based on information and one must always be up-to-date with the latest news in order to stay ahead of the competition. Doing this, with an already busy schedule might prove difficult and can make you forget some other things you have to do without even noticing it.

Smartphones are today's solution, but it can be time consuming when most of your work is on the computer. Yellow Reminder is a simple application that can take the place of those old sticky notes on your desk and always remind you about important tasks with no effort.

The application is very small occupying only 2.70 MB and is released under the Freeware license, which means you can use it for free, without any restrictions, for as long as you want.

The interface of the software is as simple as it gets and provides you quick access to all its features. It will not take long until you familiarize with it and start making notes, as it's built with the average Joe in mind.

At the first look, the main drawback is the fact that you can only add up to 10 notes, Yellow Reminder failing to provide you with a more consistent database, but if you're not such a busy person, this might prove to be just enough.

To create a new note is as simple as 1-2-3, because all the elements you need are in one window, a mouse click away. Just choose an empty note, enter the date and time of your appointment, select when do you want to be alerted (once, every day or a specific day) and press the Save button or F12 to memorize it.

To easily select the date of your task, Yellow Reminder comes with a built-in calendar that will help you choose the right date and day to plan your future assignments. Aside this, the calendar doesn't have any other functions although it might use some improvements like: future task view, task planning shortcuts directly from this window etc.

Yellow Reminder also allows you to run a specific application at any given time and even shutdown your PC when you want. While these actions can come in handy, they surely need some improvements and more options to make them more versatile.

For more advanced users, a parameter field can be added to start any application with custom parameters. Even more system events can be added like: restart, log off, sleep or hibernate for increased usability.

There is a small thing you can do when you have more than 10 tasks to plan. Yellow Reminder allows you to save your current tasks in a proprietary format (*.yre) for later usage. Using this feature you can always save how many groups of task you want and open them individually. Although this method allows you to create more tasks, it will only remind you the tasks that are currently loaded.

For easy access and planning, Yellow Reminder will automatically organize your tasks in a simple ToDo list ready to print. Here is also room for improvements as it displays only the name of the task and directs you to it when you double click it.

The developer might add other columns to display the task date and time, occurrence and the possibility to delete them right from this list.

To delete any task you can press the recycle bin icon but only after you have clicked the checkbox besides it. We think this comes as a precaution to prevent accidental usage, but it can be easily solved by adding a confirmation window and removing the checkbox that can become annoying after a time.

If you want to keep curious eyes away from your tasks, Yellow Reminder allows you to setup a password that will restrict access to the application. Also it can automatically archive all your tasks, after their completion, in a text file.

The Good

Yellow Reminder is a simple application that can remind of your future tasks and appointments. It features an easy to use interface and usage that everyone will enjoy.

It will automatically create a ToDo list based on your current tasks ready for printing and can also keep an archive of your past tasks for whenever you might need it.

The Bad

The application could use many improvements, apart from some words in the interface which are not translated into English. The big drawback is the fact that it can handle only 10 tasks at a time, making it too limited for busy people.

Also the lack of advanced features for the application launcher might be an inconvenient for advanced users. During our tests we found that you can only add a single shutdown task at a time. When trying to add another one, the application shows a window with no explanation.

The Truth

Yellow Reminder will surely need big improvements to meet users' demands in terms of task scheduling, but it can prove to be a good application for average users with a not so busy schedule.

Here are some snapshots of the application in action:
