Generally speaking, if the keyboard has a problem, then you can realize it right away especially since none of its lights are turned on or perhaps, it beeps when you turn off the PC. However, this is not always the case and there are situations in which only a few keys are broken.

Keyboard Test Utility is a reliable and easy to use piece of software whose main function is to help you discover if your keyboard is performing its job dutifully.

The program does not require setup or configuration, meaning that you can use it as soon as you download it to your computer. The interface consists of a classic layout keyboard that is available in both a light and a dark theme. On a side note, you also have other keyboard models, in case you are using a notebook or have other models.

The actual test is straightforward and consists of pressing the key buttons that you think are problematic. Once pressed, the keys are highlighted on the virtual keyboard, so you know they are working properly.

In addition to the ones that you press, the program also keeps a short record of the keys that are pressed before. The history of the pressed keys are highlighted in a different shade than the active ones and you can remove it by hitting the Reset button (located in the lower section of the UI).

It is worth mentioning that you can grab the keyboard scancodes, which are basically of a sequence of numbers used by the operating system to translate the keys and render the commands that are pressed in the actual device.
