Floating Clock

If you have been using Windows 8 for quite some time, then it is very likely that you grew very fond of the Charm Bars. While it can be argued that the Charm Bar is nothing more than a menu, the truth is that most of us got used to viewing the search function or information about our Internet connection.

Floating Clock is a lightweight piece of software designed to bring back a little piece of the Charm Bars by displaying the time on multiple monitors using the key combination you got used to.

The program is as simple as it gets and does not require undergoing a complicated setup or any configuration for that matter. In fact, the app displays the month, day of the week along with the hour and minutes based on the ones you have on your computer.

Speaking of computer settings, you will be happy to learn that the application exhibits the aforementioned details in the primary language you have set on your PC.

Despite its looks, the application does not have any other functionality, feature or, at least, a configuration window that enables you set the app always on top or change the opacity or the colors, for instance. On a side note, some of the aforementioned features are however planned for a future release.

Considering that the program is essentially a clock, it would have been nice if it enabled you to set alarms or reminders for events and tasks that you have planned for the day ahead. Although it relies on your PC's time and language settings, it would be useful if the app could also include a calendar.

While it does not have any functionality other than displaying the time of day, Floating Clock might be an enhancement for a computer if you were forced to upgrade to Windows 10 and got used to the delightful Charm Bars.
