iPTime is a small Windows application designed specifically for helping you time your sports activities using a chronometer.
The program does not impress in the visual department. Its features are not highly intuitive so you need to invest extra time and effort into getting used to working with it.
Not all of dedicated parameters are translated accurately into English, an issue which may lead to confusion for some users.
A help manual is included in the package but it doesn’t offer detailed information about the tool’s capabilities, only some succinct descriptions.
iPTime offers you the possibility to save the current race to a file so you can easily import data in the future, as well as export data to XML or HTML file format.
You can choose between two different timing modes (race or cross), add a virtual display, enable sound notifications, and alter the background color of the working environment. The application enables you to add a new player, start or stop the timer, adjust the timeout duration, increment time, and keep a list with runners.
We have tested the utility on Windows 8.1 Pro and come across several bugs. The utility keeps crashing or becomes unresponsive when you try to alter the configuration settings. It doesn’t eat up a lot of CPU and memory, so the overall performance of your computer is not hampered.
All things considered, iPTime integrates a bunch of handy timing tools but the GUI is not at all intuitive so it needs several improvements to make the layout look cleaner and easier to work with.
