One of the first things you need to know is that the application doesn’t take you through a setup process, so you can even store it on a USB flash drive and have it carried around to be used on other computers. However, the computer it’s used on needs to be fitted with .NET Framework for things to work as intended.

The program window shows up immediately on launch. There is, however, one first important step, and that’s to select the microphone input before starting the engine. Moreover, it’s highly advisable to also make sure your actual microphone is plugged in and selected as the default recording device.

Once the engine is started, you can go ahead and try out a few commands. There’s a volume spectrum to help you adjust the volume, as well as a few configuration options in terms of what computer voice to use (David or Zira), as well as value options for rate and volume.

A log window displays all performed activities, while the details section provides brief info on your computer. Unfortunately, the list of commands isn’t really abundant. In other words, you can only configure four slots, each with a predefined keyword you need to say, such as “Run it”, “Launch”, “Start”, and “Process”.

The default associated commands of these keywords launch programs such as Microsoft Access, Excel, Registry Editor, and the msconfig tool. You can change them with the path to any executable, but the keywords can’t be changed. There are, however, some extra predefined commands, which you can explore through the features section.

Taking everything into account, we can state that PC AI is a reliable application which can help you launch some tools a little faster. Unfortunately, there’s a poor number of maximum slots, and you can’t change the associated keywords.
