Companion

How many of you are in the habit of watching stuff online while you go about your daily work? Don't answer that, officially no one, we get it!

While we don't promote watching streams or YouTube videos while working, we do understand that some online jobs can be so repetitive that allow such actions. If that's the case, then we would like to suggest Companion.

Companion is a stripped-down mini-browser built with Electron that can be pinned on top of any desktop apps. This makes it perfectly suited for enjoying live streams or less distracting YouTube videos while you work.

In terms of features, there's really not much to say. Companion is nothing like the modern browsers we're all accustomed to by now.

There are no fancy toolbars, no support for tabs, no bookmarks, and definitely no options section. With Companion, what you see is what you get - a simple browser that can be resized and moved around to perfectly fit over your more important desktop apps.

It has all the typical browser components, an address bar, a few controls such as Back, Foward, Home, and Go. The only real feature that this browser boasts, is the "lock" feature. This allows you to enable or disable the "always-on-top" option, and that's about it.

Obviously, this is not a product meant to impress anyone. It's designed as a more efficient and flexible alternative to various browser extensions that allow you to view videos using the "Picture-in-Picture" mode.

Having said all that, if you're looking for a solution for watching online content while going about your day or your work, then Companion may not be the best solution, but it's definitely a solution worth considering. You never know, it might just be perfect for you.
