Miranda NG

Miranda NG is a reliable Windows instant messaging client, which is built on the basis of the multi-protocol program, Miranda. It is a successor of Miranda, its highlights being the fact that it is lightweight fast and highly customizable, thanks to the multiple supported plug-ins.

Similar to its predecessor, Miranda NG allows you to configure several protocols, from various networks. The supported services include Facebook, Yahoo, AOL Instant Messenger, Gadu-Gadu, ICQ, Internet Relay Chat, Jabber, MSA, MSN, Skype, Twitter or WhatsApp. VKontakte, Xfire or Omegle are also supported by Miranda NG.

The application can be customized, from the layout of the menus, to the chat window or the mode in which the messages history is saved. Moreover, several extensions can be dynamically loaded or unloaded in Miranda NG.

Among the list of supported plug-ins, the following are included: Miranda image services, avatar service, database checker, crash dumper, contacts import. A complete list of plug-ins can be accessed via the Options menu.

Miranda NG can automatically import addresses from your accounts, whenever you configure a new protocol. You may even import contacts from previously created profiles, for example when you update Miranda NG or install it on a different computer.

Miranda NG allows you to store the messaging history in a secure database, which is automatically encrypted. You may choose the type of encryption you wish to apply: the standard level encodes only passwords or security tokens, while Total includes all string settings, events and complete histories.

Miranda NG is designed to bring several online chat networks to your desktop, allowing you to connect to either of the services. You may even login to several accounts at the same time and receive messages from all your contacts. Moreover, the program allows you to customize its functionality and layout according to your preferences: from toolbars, to contact importing, message sessions or notifications.
