It is currently not possible to export chats from the desktop Discord application, whether you need to extract direct messages or the chat from an entire server. However, you can take advantage of a third-party utility to get this job done.

DiscordChatExporter is an open-source program that enables you to extract chat logs from Discord in a relatively straightforward manner, and then save them to HTML or TXT. It is not too tricky to set up, and it is very easy to use.

DiscordChatExporter can save the extracted chat logs to HTML or plain text. When exporting to HTML, you can also choose between the light and dark themes.

Moreover, it is possible to set a start and end date in order to extract chats only from a specified period.
