These days file sharing is a pretty simple and straightforward process, as there are already many applications and web services that facilitate it. Sending a picture to a buddy will take only a few seconds, and while the transfer of larger elements or multiple files will take longer, the process is usually just as simple.

So even though an application like FileMancer doesn’t offer anything revolutionary, it comes with a new perspective by asking: what if you could download all your files directly from a computer via a unique website?

As soon as you start FileMincer, you can proceed to create your own website that covers a large folder of your choice and all its contents. After choosing which folder and port you will allow the program to access, you must also create a user and provide a password. With those credentials in mind, simply copy the address that the program provides to any web browser. You’ll see that all the contents of your folders are there and you can download them freely.

Keep in mind that the program’s main purpose is to make it easier for you to access the contents of your PC from your mobile devices. By using this free tool, you don’t have to connect your phone to a USB anymore, nor do you have to rely on any cloud service.

Honestly, it was easier for me to use FileMancer than to explain exactly what it does. The program is surprisingly intuitive and you can get the website up and running in no-time. However, you should also know that, at first, you’ll only be able to access your files from within the network of your local router. If you want to access the files from anywhere on the Internet, then you need to open a router port.

There’s no doubt that FileMancer is a very useful and intuitive application, but a bit of advanced networking knowledge is required if you want to use it to its full potential.
