Twitch Fullscreen Plus

When watching a Twitch stream in your browser, you can use either the theater or fullscreen mode. The former shows you the chat while reducing the dimensions of the video, while the latter hides the chat in order to display the video feed on the entire screen.

Twitch Fullscreen Plus is an interesting Chrome extension that seeks to provide you with an alternative – it allows you to watch streams in fullscreen mode while also displaying a Twitch that overlay that can be customized in various ways.

Once the extension is installed, you can enable the new fullscreen mode by just clicking the new icon in the bottom-right corner of the video window. The stream will be maximized, and the chat overlay will also be displayed on the screen.

You can move the overlay to any position on your monitor, as well as resize it. The font size is not customizable, but you can simply increase the zoom level to make the text larger.

There are many things you can change about the overlay, including its opacity, the background alpha and the color theme. For the latter, you need to select either the default or dark theme.

If you prefer a minimalistic look, you can switch to the slim mode. While active, the toolbar and other visual elements are hidden when you are not interacting with the overlay.

Unfortunately, some settings, such as the dimensions of the overlay and the alpha value, are not always saved when exiting fullscreen mode.

Also, the vertical scrollbar is displayed when new messages are posted even in slim mode. If you have set the zoom level to a higher value, it can be quite distracting.

Lastly, it would be great if it were possible to increase or decrease the size of the text without having to use the browser zoom function.

Twitch Fullscreen Plus is a neat extension for Twitch viewers who watch streams using Chrome. It works for both live broadcasts and VODs, and it offers quite a few customization options, but it does need to be improved in some respects.
