Note: RemoteApp Tool is compatible with Windows XP SP3 (Professional), Windows 7, 8 and 10 (Ultimate, Enterprise, Education), Windows Server (2012 R2, 2008 R2). It DOES NOT WORK with Windows XP SP3 (Home), Windows 7, 8 and 10 (Professional, Home, Starter) or Windows Server 2003, although it runs.
Having multiple computers in the same network means more time spent configuring settings for each machine. However, with software solutions such as Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection (RDP), you can easily establish connections and control the workstation from a distance, as long as you have the account credentials.
RemoteApp Tool is a tiny and intelligent piece of software that takes advantage of the RDP technology to give you the possibility of remotely deploying programs on the other machine. Once configured properly, this task becomes effortless. But it may take a while to set up everything. If you're having trouble with app permission issues, you can follow the instructions on how to set up RemoteApp. Just keep in mind that it cannot work on certain Windows editions.
The main window has a simple layout, where you can add as many apps as you want to launch. The simplest method implies pointing to a program's executable via the traditional file browser. The advanced approach means filling out various types of details, such as app name, full name, path, VPath, icon path (if you want to assign custom icons), command lines, and TS web access.
Client connections can be setup for each program in your list. There are two methods available: creating RDP files or MSI installers (the second one requires WiX Toolset, which is another program that has to be installed separately). You can set the remote server's primary and alternate address, manually edit the RDP file, use Remote Desktop Gateway, and set filetype associations. Settings can be saved to file and reused in further projects.
All aspects considered, RemoteApp Tool provides a convenient solution for remotely deploying any applications on other computers in your local network. With a bit of skill, it can be set up properly.
