Server JRE

With Server JRE, developers can easily deploy Java-based applications on servers. This Java edition is specifically designed for server-based machines, bundling tools and components fit for high-scale deployment. Server JRE is available for all the major platforms, including Windows, Mac and Linux.

On Windows, Server JRE is delivered inside a TAR.GZ archive file, which developers can uncompress and extract in one go, without a lot of hassle. The tarball just be extracted to a separate folder, and the Server JRE can be installed afterwards. The file contains executable Java files and the documentation you need to work with Java and take advantage of its functionality.

Similar to the desktop edition, Server JRE has the Java Virtual Machine at its core, deploying both the Java runtime and additional tools required to run applications on server machines. However, it does not feature browser integration or an auto-update capability. Also, Server JRE does not come in the form of an installer.

The server edition of the Java Runtime Environment is designed to deploy long-running Java applications in a server environment.
