Automatic audio transcription is one of those things that many people see as hit-or-miss, and it's certainly no easy business for an algorithm to recognize voice recordings and transcribe them without further user input. There's a lot that goes into making an algorithm effectively recognize all manner of words, yet the results aren't always guaranteed to be up to par.

EaseText Audio to Text is a software application that features such functionality. It is able to convert existing sound recordings into text files, as well as do all of that in real-time, as you're recording.

It takes very little time to take advantage of the program's transcription functionalities. Right upon booting it up, users will have to choose between three modes: Record, Convert, and Transcribe.

Record deals with real-time transcription as you're recording through the app, while Convert works to transcribe existing audio files. The Transcribe mode is able to capture audio through your microphone or speakers, which makes it able to transcribe any playing audio on your computer.

We put Transcribe on Speaker mode, put on a podcast, and it started picking up on what was being said there. There's a bit of a delay to the transcription, but that's to be expected. We also always had the option to switch to our microphone, which also worked decently.

The transcription quality remained somewhat accurate throughout, but as is often the case with such solutions, you'll need to correct a few mishaps here and there. Even if everything comes out fine, you'll still have to manage text formatting.

There are two different accuracy modes for most languages: Standard and Higher Accuracy. Though the latter uses more system resources, the increased accuracy makes it worth using over the Standard mode. As for the supported languages, English, German, Arab, Dutch, French, and many more others are able to be used.

EaseText Audio To Text Converter is an audio transcriber that works rather well for the most part. It's worth noting that users of the Free version will find themselves with little to work with, however, as they cannot copy or export generated text.
