There are many ways for people to record audio, and it doesn't much matter whether that audio is coming from their microphone or their computer. There are various tools to use to record one's microphone — the built-in Voice Recorder Windows comes with does the job just fine.

While the built-in solution doesn't record your computer audio, there are third-party alternatives to consider for that job. WorkinTool Audio Recorder is a free-of-charge alternative that comes with an intuitive interface, which allows users to seamlessly record their audio.

There's not much to talk about regarding the installation process: choose a target directory to install the program in, and you're pretty much set. The whole process was over and done in less than a minute, so there shouldn't be any problem for anyone looking to get started with this app.

Upon starting it, you'll notice the simple, modern interface, where everything is self-explanatory. You can start recording right away by clicking the big, blue microphone button. Before that, though, there are some settings you may want to consider adjusting: selecting to record or omit system and microphone audio, for instance.

Some more settings can be found in the Set up menu, where users can tweak their system and microphone audio levels, as well as the output format and quality. Audio noise reduction filters can also be applied to the recording.

The program allows for an auto-saving function of sorts, through which users can have the app automatically save their recording every other couple of minutes or seconds. A file size filter can also be applied this way, whereby files will be saved after they get to a certain megabyte size.

WorkinTool Audio Recorder chooses to keep it simple, and whether it succeeds or not is up to the individual. It is better than the built-in Voice Recorder, but not necessarily that much better to warrant a download for everyone
