When one has sleeping troubles, they start looking for methods on how to deal with that. There are many ways to put a person to sleep, and one of them is sound. Music, background noise, or nature sounds are usually employed for helping one fall asleep. Some individuals use earbuds, while others look to YouTube for help, but Opal is the best of the bunch. Earbuds or headphones are intrusive or cause harm to your ears. YT playlists can push unwanted material, startling or annoying the user. Opal simply provides you with a dozen of sounds that can be mixed together to output the perfect background and can automatically stop after a specific time.

Because it's only sporting 14 sliders, Opal's UI cannot be considered complicated in any sense. Also, the toolbar is very compact, offering a couple of combo menus dealing with opening and saving sounds presets, as well as with timing the app's shutdown.

Nature sounds are the best medicine for a night of restless sleep. Rain is the most powerful element when it comes to this matter, so it will be the first included. Wind, thunder, birds, river, and fireplace follow the rain. All these sounds can be mixed together to give you the perfect background noise.

If nature sounds follow logic when it comes to relaxation, office sounds don't really inspire that, but yet they are part of the app. If by any chance, you can sleep if you hear, keyboard typing, ringing phones, people chatter, traffic noises, and ticking clocks, more power to you. Office is the second category and can be easily combined with nature's sounds.

You can use two uncategorized items, and those are Static and Fantasy. It doesn’t need to make sense whatsoever, but they are free to use as well.

As already mentioned, the UI is mainly hosting sliders. Drag them to the right to start a certain effect and adjust its volume. Don't hesitate to try different combinations, between all items — it might work for you in mysterious ways.

To conclude, Opal is an application dedicated to helping the user relax and sleep. Even if it comes with some unorthodox "relaxing" tunes on top of the natural ones, it is still a great choice for those tired of earbuds or unpredictable playlists.
