Advanced cameras also add geographical information to your photos, but what if you need to geotag photos that lack this piece of information? That is where PhotoLocator comes in, providing users with a handy tool that helps you attach geolocation data to your JPEG images.

PhotoLocator is easily installed, but keep in mind that the .NET 6 desktop runtime is mandatory for the application to start. The main window is shown and you will immediately observe that the GUI is split into two separate panels.

The left side panel is designed for previewing all the photos in a selected folder. There is an address bar and a browse button that allows you to find the directory to scan for photos. All the compatible JPG images are shown.

On the other hand, the right-side panel hosts a map that you can use to find the location of the photos on the left. PhotoLocator ensures compatibility with OpenStreetMap and TopPlusMap, allowing you to choose the desired view from a simple menu. The map area can be optionally split to preview the selected image in a larger frame.

You can configure PhotoLocator to import GPS traces from KML or GPX files or even photos that are already geotagged to get GPS positions and locations. KML files can be easily obtained from Google maps location history, while GPX files are supported by various apps that can export geodata information.

The geodata can be embedded into the selected images by running timestamp synchronization and EXIF data update. Alternatively, you can use the map to select the location for the current map.

PhotoLocator is an interesting application for adding geodata information to files. It works with multiple files simultaneously and it allows you to run both manual and automatic geodata update.
