picd is a tiny, lightweight utility that provides a quick way to capture your full screen or just an area of it. The tool is connected with the picd.in service and enables you to take and share images via this service.

The setup is a quick and straightforward process that does not require any special attention on your part. The app does not have an interface per se, but rather you can access it from the System Tray. You can get started by pressing the PrintScreen button and the app prompts you to select an area to capture via the mouse. If you do not select any area, the app snapshots the full desktop. On a side note, to capture an area, you need to start selecting from the app's message area.

Unlike similar tools, the program does not come with advanced features and it would be nice if you could allow you to add a watermark at least, for instance.

The program allows you to save the screenshots locally in a PNG. On the other hand, if you are using the picd.in website, then you can work with other file formats as well, namely BMP, JPG, WEBP and HENC. As far as the service goes, the developer claims that you receive unique links for your screenshots. To remove it, you need to either hit the Abuse button located under the image or contact their team at [email protected], which can be a drag for some.
