Some services add limitations regarding the size of files which can be used in particular areas. This can be encountered when working with pictures, but there is a way around this. For instance, Image Compressor is the type of program which makes it possible to reduce size of pictures without losing quality.

The application is good to go as soon as setup is over. Note, however, that .NET Framework needs to be on your computer to ensure functionality, but there’s a high chance it’s already there, because it comes in the default set of features with modern Windows iterations.

Files can be added one by one, either through the browse dialog or simply dropping them on the main window. It’s also possible to quickly load the content of an entire folder. Items are then enlisted in a table with column headers for name, status, original file size, new file size, date created, and remarks. Clicking one applies it as a filter condition.

You can work with both JPG and PNG pictures, and it’s of little to no concern whether you add both types to the process or focus on a single one. It’s a good idea to first access the settings panel because the default save mode overwrites original files.

Apart from the destination, the settings panel also makes it possible to configure output quality of new pictures. A value can be set for the number of passes used in PNG optimization, as well as another for JPEG quality level. You can remove image metadata, and use advanced JPEG compression, but at the cost of more memory.

All things considered, we can state that Image Compressor comes as a lightweight, but highly efficient tool to compress pictures without losing quality. Multiple items can be processed at a time, with options to set the output quality in order to optimize compression.
