Hikvision iVMS-4200

Hikvision iVMS-4200 is a very well-thought-out and incredibly feature-packed video management solution capable of performing a lot of useful tasks for your Hikvision devices.

For instance, not only does it allow you to thoroughly manage DVRs, NVR, or IP cameras, but it's also quite capable of helping you back up various files, perform various actions remotely (remote search, remote playback), record videos and even use your devices for real-time live view purposes.

The first thing you should know is the fact that the installer actually bundles three independent utilities with the client being the main one, of course. Other than that, there are two extra utilities, with self-explanatory names: Storage Server and Stream Media Server.

Please note that if you go for the full installation, you are required to deploy WinPcap on your computer (or Win10Pcap in the case of Windows 10 computers).

Once the installation is completed, you are bound to discover a fairly well-designed application, with a very functional and quite intuitive, tabbed UI. Apart from the classic GUI elements (such as a typical menu bar), please note that there are two main sections one dedicated for the modules (which can be configured to your liking by hiding or showing modules) and another mainly dedicated for maintenance/management.

The first section allows you quite access modules such as the remote playback, the security control panel, the status monitor, the real-time alarm, and license plate and face retrieval software, as well. In the latter section, you can easily access a device and an event manager, manage accounts, view logs, tweak various storage schedule tasks and tons of other general configuration parameters.

Having said all that, if you have one or multiple Hikvision devices, and you're looking for a flexible and intuitive software for making your experience a bit better and even enhance their functionality by a small margin, then you should definitely try out the company's official video management (but it's actually much more than that) dubbed Hikvision iVMS-4200.
