These days, creating video content is more common than it was a few years back, when phones that could film in HD resolutions was something almost unheard of. Since quality raw footage is now easy to acquire, video editing programs have naturally become more common. They can vary from complex movie editing apps to basic tools with few options that are mostly just for fun.

Then there are a few exceptions that, even though they’re not designed for professionals, can still offer a multitude of useful features to the average user. VideoProc is one such example.

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from VideoProc. I had the “pleasure” to test programs of its kind before, and most of them turned out to be basic, inefficient and overpriced. This one, however, promises a lot of features, which can be grouped into four main categories that are visible in the home interface: video processing, DVD conversion, video downloader and video recorder.

The processing section allows you to add various effects over your videos, but also convert them into many possible formats (from WEBM to GIF). You can also add watermarks, cut and crop the videos, rotate them or add subtitles.

From the DVD conversion section, you can rip DVD discs or ISO files and turn them directly into videos. With the video downloader you can save videos with resolutions as high as 8K (yes, really) to your computer from any online source. Finally, you can also use the program for screencasts, or for recording videos using your webcam.

Even though it’s not an editing app per se (you can’t use it, for example, to arrange clips in order to make your own film), VideoProc is still a powerful application that you can use to create meaningful video content.
