Easy Screen Recorder is a lightweight software application designed specifically for helping you record your desktop activity and save it to MP4, SWF, or GIF file format. The tool is able to capture both the audio and video streams.

You are welcomed by a multi-tabbed layout that allows you to tweak the settings concerning each recording mode, namely user-defined area, window, or full screen. A help manual is not included in the package but you can decode the parameters on your own because they look intuitive.

Easy Screen Recorder helps you pick the desired output format (MP4, SWF, or GIF), adjust the number of frames per second, select the saving directory, enable or disable the audio recording mode, open the output folder directly from the main panel, as well as start or stop the recording process.

What’s more, you are allowed to record a custom region of your desktop. You can manually input the left, top, width, and height parameters, or define the area using your mouse.

You may also record a specific window. The application automatically detects all running programs and reveals information about the size of each window. Tests have shown that Easy Screen Recorder eats up from minimal up to moderate amount of system resources. The output results are very good.

On the downside, there’s no support for advanced settings. You cannot embed text and image watermarks, assign hotkeys for enabling or disabling the recording task, and include or exclude the mouse cursor, just to highlight some options.

All things considered, Easy Screen Recorder has to offer basic recording capabilities, and is suitable especially for less experienced users. It does what it says and comes with nothing more than recording options so you should not expect to find professional editing tools for inserting annotations.
