A calendar on your computer is an indispensable tool and, although Windows comes with a pretty resourceful application, some users might prefer a simpler, third-party utility. Desktop.Calendar.Tray.OK is one of the alternatives they can choose to use instead of the Windows calendar app.

Desktop.Calendar.Tray.OK displays a calendar in its raw form: all the months are displayed, starting with the current one. The present day is marked. The selected date is displayed both in long and short format.

A plus of Desktop.Calendar.Tray.OK is that it can calculate the difference in days between the selected date and the current date. In other words, just by clicking on a particular day, users can find out the number of weeks and days until that date. This feature comes in handy when scheduling appointments and meetings.

It is possible to navigate to future or previous months using the dedicated arrows. In other words, if users want to check out a particular upcoming date, they can do that. Unfortunately, there is no option to enter a date manually and jump to it within the calendar, which would come in handy.

Nevertheless, there is a way to navigate faster through the calendar. Clicking on a month's name switches to the yearly calendar, which enables users to choose the month they are looking for directly. Once a month is selected, the calendar switches back to the month view.

No one could argue that Desktop.Calendar.Tray.OK is not a more simple alternative to the Windows calendar but, for sure, simple is not always good. And it's probably too much to say that there are "complex" calendar applications out there since most of them show the days of the week and allow users to create new events to which prior notifications can be triggered.

It's quite a shame that Desktop.Calendar.Tray.OK does not allow event scheduling and notifications, which is one of the most important features of a calendar application. The thing is, if a user would just want to consult a calendar to see what day it is, then the built-in tray calendar in Windows is more than enough.
