Freebyte Task Scheduler is a tiny and portable tool that gives you the possibility to schedule multiple programs to launch at any specified time. It features intuitive options geared toward all types of users.
The whole application's wrapped in a single .exe that you can save in any part of the disk or a USB flash drive, in order to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers. It doesn't need any DLLs to run and doesn't create extra files on the disk without your permission.
As for the interface, Freebyte Task Scheduler adopts a classical window that doesn't put emphasis on the visual appearance, yet it's easy to navigate. You can add as many tasks as you want to the list, since the tool's capable of keeping track of multiple programs to launch at different times.
New tasks can be put together by indicating the name, program location and command-line parameters to enhance its functionality (e.g. run silently, run as admin). It can be executed regularly by specifying a fixed date and time, daily, or weekly.
The start time can be modified, while the last start time can be reset. Although it's possible to remove any task from the list if you change your mine, you can also deactivate them without removal. You can edit task properties, execute jobs on the spot or prematurely, as well as sort them in the list by name, frequency, time, activity status, or last start time.
It gets minimized to the taskbar but it doesn't implement an option for sending it to the systray. Unsurprisingly, it left a small footprint on system resources in our tests. We haven't had any compatibility issues with later Windows editions, although no recent updates have been made to Freebyte Task Scheduler.
