Compare Two Lists

When you want to compare the contents of two files, you can either try the old-school way, visually looking for similarities and differences, or you can try a specialized software solution.

Such an option is Compare Two Lists, a no-frills app that can be operated even by novices.

The graphic interface of this utility is designed to be straightforward and user-friendly, as it does not require advanced computer skills.

You simply need to select the two TXT files you are interested in comparing (dragging and dropping the files onto the main window is not supported).

Alternatively, you can paste or just type the lists in their dedicated panels.

Once you loaded the text lists in their respective side-by-side panels, you can press the Compare button and get an overview of the results. You can easily check the box related to case-sensitive comparison, if this is what you need.

You can view the records detected in both lists, or you can explore the records that are featured only in one of the lists.

You can get a detailed list with the records contained in both lists.

When you have analyzed all the tabs from the results window, you can choose which type of result you are interested in exporting.

Unfortunately, you can only save the results to TXT files, although CSV or XLS could have come in handy as well.

You get the liberty to specify the type of encoding you want for the output TXT file (ANSI, ASCII, Unicode, Big Endian Unicode, UTF-8, UTF-7).

Compare Two Lists does exactly what its name implies, as it allows you to search for similarities in two separate lists. The downside is that you can only load TXT lists, so no other source files are supported.
